  1. I still say that if the park had been brought b y someone other than Paramount, it would be almost the same it is now without the nasty paramount junk.
  2. Actually most park do hand you one, it is a called the "Park Map". Generally, the rules are typed on them.
  3. Doesn't the lease agreement for the land state that GA must remain a theme park also? Wouldn't that make everyone up the creek without a paddle. Cedar Fair= Selling only a lease agreement and what rides can't be relocated Santa Clara= A theme park without management
  4. Wait a second, why would they be starting in the middle where the track was just redone?
  5. Question, how come Coney Island never became a Paramount Park?
  6. SCOOBY DOOBY DOO! I hope this rumor is true!
  7. While I feel for the child. this seems like one of those lack of common sense accidents. Wonder if the girl would stand in a bathtub using a hairdryer too? Amusement Ride + Standing/Disobeying Signs = Possible injury.
  8. Yes, I used to operate Drop Zone at Carowinds. Drop Zone can be e-stopped at anytime. This cuts the power to the ride, and locks the brakes. So, if you hit the e-stop after the cars are released, before the brakes, the cars will stop roughly 10 to 30 feet from the ground.
  9. Exactly why I say normally. It is still surprise to me that Carowinds had a thin cable.
  10. Carowinds normally changes the Drop Zone cables twice a season. Which means Hellivator's should have been changes 26 times. I think Six Flags should just pay the medical bills for the injury and hand the little girl a lifetime season pass.
  11. Wet N Wild Emerald Pointe has a picnic area(FREE) for people that don't want to eat in the park, they however will hold your cooler for a day for a fee of get this a (1) US dollar! I don't get the reason why WNWEP put it in, as it would seem they would be losing money, but it seems like that would be the way Cedar Fair would combat people eating in the parking lot. I would rather pay 4 dollars for a Happy Days milkshake than pay 2 for crappy McDonalds one.
  12. BORG does not have the ability to rotate on the lift automatically. However, the seats can be rotated mannually on the lift and the brakes. Firehawk has motors on the seats that can be used anywhere on the track whereas BORG has rotaters in the station. The BORG seats have to be mannuelly lifted by hand on the lift or brakes or maintence personnel.
  13. I am pretty sure the brake on Tatsu's pretzal loop is a trim brake not an e-brake or safety brake. An E-stop does not stop the train any faster than a normal stop. If an e-stop is engaged when the train hits the brake run and the brakes are normally closed during a normal stop than the train will stop in it's normal position. The only numbers that determines where the coaster train stops during normal operation is the weight of the train, temperature, and speed. The Hurler coaster at Carowinds slides ten feet farer on the brakes when it is a raining with a fully loaded train over an emtpy train in the sun.
  14. Quick questions, if the trains can stop themselves, why does it have track mounted then? Why would they throw money away on a extra set of brakes? Why didn't stop the ride sooner? Why did it still rollback during the loop? Based on these question even without the answers there is no train mounted brakes. I dont see anything that could be a brake.
  15. They have to press buttons for them to lower. Hence why they say: "Clear!" "Clear! All Clear, going down!" "Clear!" "All Clear, dispatch!" On a side note, a photo of BORG after the accident clearly shows the seats in the laying down position. I find it very unlikely that this accident was human error as, on all other coasters the train has to be in the station for such a button to work. Oddly enough this accident was always my worst fear on BORG. Also, I like how the park claims it was a safety feature that stopped the ride when we all know that the trains are controlled by gravity once it leaves the lift.
  16. Simple answer, having fun. The day before dry run day, employees are allowed to ride rides. They were not testing the ride, the rides are tested empty.
  17. The state of NC says that rides on the NC side of the park must be cycle 100 times before anyone can ride. Also, BORG stopped the train shook due to the seats coming up not because of a safety feature, as there is NOT one. On a side note, Firehawk trains are very different from BORG's.
  18. A 5 car train is going to lose more speed than a 6 car train also.
  19. The green boxes mark the "Safety Zone" for the ride ops when the train is entering or leaving the station. We have always had these at Carowinds.
  20. I am thinking the same thing, I wanna see this one.
  21. Umm, Express should be 40" Chap, 44" Alone like Goldrusher at Carowinds.
  22. And what is wrong with that, all of the Hurler theming at Carowinds is gone.

Incorrect, the logo on the top of the Paramount Parks website(paramountparks.com) said "A Viacom Company" up until a few days ago. The press releases say "A unit of CBS..."
