I was just thinking this. While I am perfectly happy with what Kings Island is, it must have been meant to be so much more. I noted the guy talking about the golf courses across the highway and mini golf at the campground as well as nature trails there. Does anyone want to elaborate on those for me? As far as I know, they didn't ever exist. I'm not sure about a nature trail at the campground, but there was a nature trail in Rivertown at the far end (circa early and mid 1970s before The Beast). The entrance was at the end of the path bracketed by the individual canoes (where KCKC and TRTR later occupied) and the war canoes (where Beast resides currently). The trail curved around, went down the side of the hill to the creek that runs under the KIMVRR trestle, crossed over a small bridge and back up the hill on the other side. The trail going up the hill would be to the left of where the Diamondback's bottom of second hill is today. You could easily see the trail from the train when going over the trestle.

Great video and posts! The train footage is vintage in both video parts 1 & 2 -- Indian burial grounds and village; the two beavers cutting down the trees (I believe their concrete pads are still there...in front of the bear); Fort McHale (named after General Manager McHale); Tom Fry's cabin; the actors in front of the cabin on the curve (where the train used to stop) before the "Golden Lamb"; and jail. Bravo!

There used to be photo spots of the KI&MVRR Train. - An early spot (70's) was from where Potato Works is now with the view of the water tower, engine and train. - A spot used to be by the TRTR bldg exits. I believe the vertical posts holding the sign may still be there sans the sign (or at least they were there last year). The angle would be similar to PKIC photo at Engine #12 (edited: Engine #12) - If there wasn't a photo spot of the trestle from the White Water Canyon exit path, there should have been.
