Kings Island General Discussion 2026
For some reason, it feels as if the events list is smaller than years past....maybe not. None of these events give me a reason to visit the park. Grand Carnivale is stale, Star Spangled Nights seems like a pretty standard celebration (I'll be at CP likely anyway) and Food/Wine Fest isn't worth the $ for me especially if there isn't a tasting card.

Jana Partners pushes Six Flags to explore sale, replace board chair
I like how Jana took stake in October. It’s been 6 months. Over the time the organization isn’t really in business (parks operating), the CEO officially stepped down, and multiple other things have happened since then, so of course things are a bit dysfunctional. I mean I don’t think the ship is going in the right direction, but the captain needs to be able to steer it to put it on the right course.

Kings Island will have one less roller coaster in 2026
Didn’t Zamperla classify these type of rides as a coaster? I remember seeing it listed at some point under roller coasters. Could this be an alignment between the manufacturer and parks?

Seaworld Sued Over Mishandling Sesame Street Brand
I'm not positive if this includes the Busch Gardens parks, since technically they are all under the United Parks front and they do have Sesame Street themed rides/attractions.

Man that would be a great Fast Lane entrance if it bypasses the exit.

They’d also need to start doing upgrades. Any major artist would probably laugh at the condition of the facility and decline.

Kings Island General Discussion 2026
We've talked about concerts numerous times and it's really not something that KI needs at this point. Why do we think the park needs concerts? Is it because we want to see Timberwolf being used? Is it because it would be cool? Is it because the park needs to bring more people in? I don't think any of those are a yes. Timberwolf is an outdated concert venue. It's not weather resistant. Would it be cool? Maybe? But it'd have to be the right acts and the right acts aren't going to come play KI when there are far better venues down the road. Does the park really need to bring more people in? No...everyone already complains when it's "too busy," without concerts. I'd rather see the park focus more on upping the Live-E shows already in park than bring in a concert.

Phantom Theater: Opening Nightmare New in 2026
It looks like I failed to include the full description of the permit: "KI Dark Ride Merch Cart" and "Ride Wait Sign" I forgot merch cart. I don't understand what would be a trade secret with that or any potential secrets.

Six Flags Divests Parks: A Strategic Shift Explained
I do wonder, with Six St. Louis becoming the "flagship" will Worlds of Fun survive?

Six Flags Divests Parks: A Strategic Shift Explained
Guessing New Braunfels will retain the name as it is being invested in by Six Flags and Galveston is a different “market.”

KI Hotel Concept
Doubt it will be that much of a bump. Those who are in the Midwest who would visit any other park than their home park most likely already had the Platinum Pass or Prestige Pass. Trends on visiting parks in the Midwest likely are not going to change much at all just because a regional pass is now available (after the whole MVP sale).

Phantom Theater: Opening Nightmare New in 2026
Permits were filed for “KI Dark Ride” and “Ride Wait Sign” in January. I did a records request and they were denied as:

KI Hotel Concept
The three parks in Sandusky have a little distance between them: Kalahari to GWL ~3 miles, GWL to Castaway is ~3 miles, Kalahari to Castaway is ~ 6 miles. GWL Mason to this area is under 2 miles with a waterpark right behind the area. How many people would choose a smaller waterpark within the lodging like (Rain?) compared to GWL or Soak City?

Discussing Land and Space in and around Vortex
I don't disagree. I personally would rather have this, but unfortunately a new pond doesn't sell season passes.
-
KI Hotel Concept
GWL and the other hotels in the area are their own though. While several of the hotels bring people to KI it's just not KI traffic, there's also many other things that people stay at them for. The new regional pass? After 2026: With the addition of lodging, they also get the added expenses. While that happens with any additions to the park, lodging/waterpark isn't cheap. With Six Flags dumping parks to get $, I don't think the priority is to add new major property/operating expenses anytime soon. I just don't see KI adding a hotel/resort anytime soon, especially in today's climate with our economy and Six Flags in general.

KI Hotel Concept
KI is already busy enough....does it really need it's own hotel that allows access to the park? Would park locals (KIC members, Mason/Cincinnati region) actually stay? Often? KI brings in A LOT of local folks...more so than visitors from other markets. IMO, I could be wrong, the KI would benefit more from reorganizing the land for parking and expanding the park footprint with rides and water park things.

The Kings Island Jail
Honestly, I laughed. The whole "jail," aspect is hilarious and I've heard of a few folks going there *cough season visitor cough cough.* If I remember correctly, it is off of guest services in a conference room. Maybe not.

Discussing Land and Space in and around Vortex
The cost of that would be enough for a small flat ride! Having done small ponds and budgeting for them, it's not that cheap to do.
