I hope the "street" is put back into International Street. I like that in the photos above, there is a distinction between the "street" and the "sidewalk". For accessibility reasons, the sidewalks don't need to be raised curbs, they could just be a different style of pavers. I also like having tables with umbrellas along the buildings rather than along the fountain. I think it adds to the street-like atmosphere. I wonder if the widening of the pathways has something to do with the new parade next year? Also, I hope the horrible pastel paint colors will be a thing of the past.

Sure, that's a consideration. Though, I think expanding Action Zone can solve a lot of the issues there. The main problem with AZ is that every path is a dead end. If the park expanded into Timberwolf, there would be a circular path along the perimeter of Congo. The park could also expand the path from Kings Island Theater to Invertigo. If they really wanted to get crazy, they could open a path from AZ to Oktoberfest along the Banshee side of Delirium. In reality though, AZ's biggest problem is the bottleneck between Ice Cream Zone and the seating area.

The more land you develop, the more land you have to maintain, patrol, staff, etc. Building a new coaster in the Dinos area is great, but you'll have to build all the infrastructure, new restrooms, new food locations, etc. Then you have to maintain and staff those locations. If the park decides the opportunity cost of removing an attraction is worth it, that's the quickest way to a higher return on investment. If you expand into Timberwolf and remove Congo, you don't have to invest in as much infrastructure. There are already shops, food stands, and restaurants near by that will see increased traffic. Also, the staffing saved from removing an attraction can be applied to staffing the new attraction.

Oh I can definitely agree with you there. Though, I feel that had been the case for many years. It seems that complacency is more to blame than budgets, however. I believe Haunt should be maintained at the same standards as WinterFest. It seems that Haunt has simply become routine instead of driving innovation and quality.

I think that's the perfect location for the next major expansion. I wonder how large of a coaster could fit in Timberwolf's footprint. Maybe something like an RMC T-Rex or a Mack Multi-launch? You could also go the route of a smaller coaster like a Sky Rocket or a Free Spin and flat or two. Skyflyer would be relatively easy to relocate, but I think Congo would be too expensive to move. I imagine there is a lot of plumbing and concrete work going on under ground. Personally, I'd like to see both rides stay in Action Zone and any expansion be limited to Timberwolf's footprint.

I'm not seeing that in this article. In fact, it mentions expanded events like Haunt and Winterfest.

Right, but your average guest isn't reading blog posts. I'm just talking about your casual visitor that just so happened to hear thr story on the news. I'm just wondering if it's worth the park's time to do a little more, or is any perception good perception? Lol that's very true. There probably isn't much the park can do to fix that.

Personally, I'd like to see the area stay unused for a while. There are plenty of places throughout the park that could be renovated and improved. I'd like to see a more consistent quality standard brought to the established park before a large expansion occurs.

Budget restrains? 1. How could you possibly know anything about the park's budget? 2. We got a new maze, a new show, and two new scare zones. Those aren't free.

I'm guessing that we won't see the station come opening day.

It's my understanding that only the turnaround of the blue side is being retracked. The media coverage seems to be giving folks the impression that the entirety of the coaster is being retracked. I think a lot of guests are going to be disappointed next season when they find out that isn't the case. Should the park clarify things before opening day?

What has everyone thought of the train presentation in the past? Assuming it's part of next year's itinerary, what would everyone like to see?

I'm sure you know more about these policies than the professionals who set them. For real though. The point of no rerides is to ensure guests are taking the appropriate recovery time between rides. Kinda like adult swims at pools.

You're acting as if you have some right to know. Cedar Fair has absolutely no reason to keep the public informed about what they do or don't do with their assets. Seeing that they are dismantling instead of demolishing leads me to believe they either have a buyer lined up, or they are looking for a buyer. If someone offers more than it's worth in scrap metal, why not sell?

Lol they aren't under oath. They can say whatever they want. They crafted a statement that communicated possibly disappointing news in the least offensive way possible.

A lot goes into determining when a ride closes -- ridership, downtime, marketability, maintenance costs, possible renovation costs, staffing costs, real estate development opportunities, etc. It reached the end of it's service life for KI, but that doesn't mean someone else can't buy it, renovate it, and operate it. My guess is that a possible buyer would only be buying the track, supports, and trains. I assume that due to its age the control and logic systems are extremely outdated. I'm sure KI has made countless modifications over the years that probably just wouldn't work once disassembled. If a park picks it up for $8-$11 million, and they invest another couple million into completely redoing the electrical systems, they'd essentially have a brand new attraction on their hands for less than $15 million.
