Has anyone ridden Maverick?

Featured Replies

I was just wondering if it lived up to everyone's expectations. I'm heading up to CP in a couple of weeks and I am starting to get really excited and I just wanted to hear your opiniors on their new coaster.

Maybe you should check out pointbuzz.com, I'm sure alot of people have rode Mavy on that site. :)

In just a few hours, I am sure there will be trip reports on this site from a trip some made today to Cedar Point.

Yes, some people have ridden Maverick.

I, for one, am not yet among them. That may or may not change before you get there.

I've ridden it, and I must say that it's one heck of a ride. I really think that the first drop is better than MF. And that's saying something. You really feel like you're going to fall out of the train. It is one heck of an experience. And both the airtime hills are amazing. The air is truly ejector air, and you honestly feel like you are flying out of the restraints. And this is the very first time I have gotten good airtime with OTSRs. I am truly in love with the Intamin OTSRs now (at least on non-accelerator coasters). The Twisted Horseshoe Roll is very smooth and fun. The corkscrews give you very good hang-time air. The launch is quick, forceful, and extremely smooth. There's a cool little surprise inside, but I won;t spoil that for anyone. ;) But there is also supposed to be fog in the tunnel, which will make it even more interesting, although it wasn't in when I rode it. The first hill after the launch had some good air, even with the trims (which you don't really feel too much, like you do on, say, Mean Streak). The drop around the pond in fun, but when I rode it over Memorial Day weekend (actually, technically the first day it was open), the water bombs were not on. They did, however, have the firehose over the canyon on. But I do believe that now they have the water bombs working, as well as the firehose still on. The s-curve is a great replacement, and the speed at which you navigate it makes me all the more happy the heartline roll was removed. There was absolutely no way for that to have been executed smoothly the way it was designed. But the two back-to-back Stengel dives are really good. Both have some good air, and the second has amazing hang-time. The final airtime hill throws you upward, and then you hit the brakes. All in all the ride is very fun and enjoyable. It is definitely worth the wait, no matter how long it may be. The crew is very efficient, and keep the line moving almost constantly. So there is really not as long of a wait as it may seem at first. I really can't wait to get back there again and ride. This is one of the park's best rides - and I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that it's possible it may be the best in the park. B)

I rode Maverick twice this visit and it's a great coaster. The launch tunnel is great and the twists and turns are disorienting. The scenery and theming is great on this coaster. This coaster is in my Top 5 for the park now. You have to ride it when you visit. I only had to wait about an hour and half when I went. I hope you enjoy the coaster.

OMG Maverick is AWESOME. It has something for everyone, but the best part is airtime! Side note don't hold your hands up I have bruises on both shoulders from being tossed around. Anyone else have the same issues?
