Several times today...rides were shut down due to "inclement weather". It may have sprinkled a few drops ...thats all. I have ridden The Beast and The Vortex in a downpour before...what gives. So we went to the Scooby Doo Haunted Mansion...and it was closed due to inclement weather. We were told that the rain causes a fire hazard? Is Cedar Fair for real? The first time we had just came into the station at Italian Stunt Job...and it may have sprinkled a few drops...and they shut it down...I thought they were joking.

Could have been they were storms pretty close to the park, they were just being careful. Also not sure why Scooby would have shut down, usually the indoor rides stay open during storms. Unless people are blocking the exit, that's the only way it could be a fire hazard.

There was nobody to block any exits...it was shut down. My wife asked the girl blocking the opening if rain shut it down too....and she said, " Yes, because it's a fire hazard".

We ran Action Theater during rain and storms, the only time we would need to shut down was if too many people where blocking the exit, thus causing a fire hazard. So unless things have changed under Cedar Fair, I have no idea.

Actually, there's a new park policy in which at the slightest sight of rain, all coasters shut down now.

I don't know where you guys are getting this from, but I was at Kings Island all rainey day on Friday and everything (that wasn't broke down) was running. Vortex, beast, Racer, Face off, Top Gun, and IJST were all good to go. Only annoying thing was they were only running one car on each coaster

The policy went into effect immediately after an incident at Magnum at Cedar Point. It has apparently been either rescinded or liberalized, probably following a host of guest complaints and possibly even lower admissions.

On opening weekend for Maverick, a Magnum train slid through the saftey brake (the set following the final tunnel) and collided with the train that was waiting to enter the station. Very minor collision, but Cedar Point was all to quick to place the blame on the rain. Oddly enough, Maggie now has a brand new brake caliper that has since been added IMMEDIATELY upon exiting the tunnel. Seeing as how Magnum had never operated in the rain before that Saturday (ending sarcasm now), ALL coasters were being shut down in the slightest inclining of moisture.

Is this how its being done now? Can anyone confirm that they are indeed operating in the rain now with just one train? Seems pretty ridiculous to remove a train or trains for a 15 minute rain shower only to turn around and add them back on after it stops? With such silly policies, one would think we were at Six Flags this season.

Actually, with such silly policies, one would think we were at Cedar Fair as being operated by a Gary Story...

The reason the indoor rides go down is because when guests make their way down the exits of these rides, they see the rain coming down and just stop. They don't move at all and it just keeps building up and building up. Thus creating a fire hazard.

that also creates a block for those people who do want to get out.

That would also be the only reason we would shut down AT when I worked at that ride in 2000 and 2001.
