My first time visit

Featured Replies

Hello! I am going to KI July 18th and 19th. This is my first time going to Kings Island ever and i was just wondering if there is any advice i should know? Like: what are dont miss attractions? what should i hit right when the park opens to avoid long wait times? What are the best restraunts? When should i go on what? And ect...

Thanks in advance!

Well i can tell you that you want to go to Firehawk first thing because it is the new ride this year and it is going to have massive waits.

most people go to the Action Zone to coney maul and then rivertown, so start off at river town then go to coney maul then Action Zone.

youll be able to get right on most rides.

Most people will agree like angryemobeaver said, that people go to the left when visiting a park, that is why when I go to the park, I always go right through Nick U around the park counter-clockwise to avoid the long lines!

Don't miss rides: Vortex, Beast, Son of Beast (if its open by then), Racer or recaR, Face/Off, Delirium, Flight of Fear, Top Gun.

Vortex: back seat for lots of airtime on first hill. plus, its smooth in the back seat.

Beast: In the middle of whatever car = smoothest ride. (pretty much applies for any woodie)

Racer: I prefer back seat (not for smoothness but the first hill is more fun, in my opinion) < same goes for Son of Beast.

Face/Off: I prefer a front seat ride, nothing in front of you when you go down the first hill and into the cobra roll.

Flight of Fear: worth the wait. heck, you get a/c while your waiting. sit anywhere.

Top Gun: front seat. AMAZING

all of that is just my opinion, take input from anyone you want.

HAVE FUN!!!

Yes, as others have said, it is best to start off by hitting Rivertown area of the park at opening. The Beast usually has little to no line right when the park opens. I then usually head over to Flight of Fear to grab a couple rides on that before it gets a long line. Of course, with Firehawk opening Memorial Day weekend, Flight of Fear will likely become busy right at park opening as well.

Since you will be at the park on weekdays, you should have no problem getting in all the attractions. Obviously, some rides like IJST, Face Off and Drop Zone have lower capacities than rides like Vortex. Don`t let a long line at Vortex full you, it may seem long, but it generally moves rather quickly.

Some of the don`t miss attractions are Flight of Fear, The Beast, and Delirium. Also, you can`t go wrong with classics like Shake Rattle and Roll, the Scrambler, and the Monster. Drop Zone is also a nice thrill and will give you a birds eye view from a slightly different angle than what you could get from atop the Eiffel Tower.

As far as restaurants go, the park offers Cincinnati favorites such as LaRosa`s Pizza, Skyline Chili, and Graeter`s Ice Cream. The park also offers Subway and a Chik-Fil-A, and eventually will also offer a Panda Express in the Festhaus later this year. There is also a all you can eat buffet in the Wings Diner across from the wild Thornberrys River Adventure. Be forewarned that the food prices are on the steep side. Especially at the all you can eat buffet (expect that to set you back about $15 a person).

I hope that helps you out some. Most importantly, have fun while you are at the park. Afterall, that is why the park is in business.

Frequently of late, Beast has not opened with the park. It is sometimes a bit late before it wakes up. And don't miss a night ride on Beast. It's a whole nother animal then!
