SOB Tunnel?

Featured Replies

That would be a culvert for the creek. They essentially buried the creek that runs in the valley throughout the entire site of Son of Beast. It is the same creek that originates over by Top Gun and goes through a similar pipe there by the station and access road. It then emerges from the pipe before going into the new pipe that was built when SoB was built in 2000, right at the edge of the Top Gun site (which is visible just above the turn to the lift hill on SoB).

Cool, Thanks for the info. Man I thought I had spotted a tunnel under construction!

I don't believe he was talking about that. Look just to the left of where the old loop used to be.

Right, he was talking about the creek culvert which I was referring to in my post. But Capt. Nemo is correct about the other "tunnel" as well.

If they are going to take out the loop why not replace it with a tunnel or something out of the ordinary so it is different then other coasters.

Maybe they will, maybe they won't. Why not a tunnel or something out of the ordinary? Perhaps money. And time to design such a thing.

Given what maintenance and repair has cost on this thing, both now and in the past, perhaps we should be happy if it reopens at all, without wanting more and more. . .

You know they could make the new track go under there.....could be a good tunnel for Son of Beast =D and also that will help them out if they do that, mean less work =D

Yeah because using a creek culvert as a tunnel is a great idea. The only problem would be if it ever rains heavy in Ohio. That creek might get a little more water in it than normal and flood over the track. Yup I think Cedar Fair and Kings Island are trying to eliminate problems and poetential problems with SoB, not create new ones.

Well, all you really have to do is start the tunnel halfway down the slop that used to lead to the loop, and end it where the track starts to go uphill. It will give the appearance to the rider that you go underground.

But, as The Interpreter said, just be happy with it opening. As much as a tunnel would be nice, I'd gladly trade it for the SOB to even be reopened.

That can be fix, also it could be a cool affect for the ride >.<

If that can be fixed than why not build a seperate tunnel for SoB and no that would not be a cool effect having the track flood along with various debri laying on the track after the flood water receeds.
