A Cincinnati Post article titled "From Summer Job to Career" that appeared in Monday, August 14th`s Cincinnati Post has a brief snippet on Paramount`s Kings Island.

Big summer businesses like Paramount's Kings Island also take advantage of the student workforce. The park employs 4,000 seasonal workers during the summer.

"The overwhelming majority of our seasonal staff are high school and college students," said Maureen Kaiser, spokesperson for the park.

Kaiser said the park benefits from the influx of student workers during the busy season and the students also gain valuable work experience.

"It works out great for us because it provides an opportunity for employees to gain skills - timeliness, attitude toward guests, money handling," Kaiser said. That on-the-job training can lead to a career with Kings Island.

Kaiser said several employees have started as summer help and worked their way into managerial positions, including Craig Ross, a former general manager, and Don Miller, a former vice president of operations. "It's a unique first job that provides a lot of room for growth," Kaiser said.

Did Craig Ross actually work at Paramount's Kings Island? I know a lot of the full timers have been moved in and out from various parks, especially when they get higher on the ladder like Craig Ross was. But yes there are the positions available for those who have the dedication and will to do it.

And Al Webber...

Al Webber not only worked at Kings Island, but he was a ride operator on the Bavarian Beetle. I believe he also might have worked a year at Coney Island before Kings Island opened in 1972.

I can think of a few people that got promoted to full time manager within the last few years. Although rare, it does happen. And a few that have gone to other parks as well....

It happen all the time, right now in games we have three big managers in charge two full timers. One has been there for 15 years and our Games Manager has been there for 16 years, she just kept working and working and working...
