I bet at least half of their profit comes from parking.

That is only a $1 increase for the normal parking. I know that the normal parking fee was $9 at the end of last season. Wasn`t preferred parking at WinterFest already $15? I seem to think it was.

That is way too much. If they are going to charge $10 dollars to park, then they need to repave the parking lot. I know a few years ago they did some improvements to the parking lot. But still.

It was last year that they made some improvements to the parking lot. They added trees, and removed the tram circle up by the front gate. In a few years, when those young saplings are mature trees, the parking lot will be a much nicer place! Yes, they could use a repaving of the parking lot, especially in some areas where it is practically crumbling apart (up by the south exit sticks out in my mind).

In my opinion with Cedar Fair lowering prices and Paramount raising them. I don't think it was a good idea for Paramount to raise prices.

Cedar Fair doesnt have as many parks to run and pay the cost of upkeep either. Plus paramount parks are a big company adn they need all the revenue they can get.

Does not make sense that CF would work towards decreasing prices when the Paramount Parks are raising them.

JASPER081691, for starters, Cedar Fair has more parks than Paramount Parks. There is Knott`s Berry Farm, Worlds of Fun, ValleyFair, Dorney Park, Michigan`s Adventure, Cedar Point, and Geauga Lake.

Secondly, I doubt that the price increases are a result of a new owner yet. (I also doubt that the price increases mean that Cedar Fair is not the buyer). Most likely, the price increases are a push to raise the current numbers for the parks so that the potential buyers see that the parks have increased their revenues more in the last year to bolster the sale price (when combined with the cuts in the budget). I for one am not a big fan of an increase in some of the prices! PKD is charging $1.99 for refills of the season pass cup!! What happened to the $.99 refills. Even at $.99 the park was still making good money off of each refill.

Even parking at Disney and Universal is cheaper. I am not going to complain over a buck but you would think Disney and Universal would have more expensive parking.

I wouldn't mind if they raised the parking prices because of rising fuel costs and using that fuel towards the trams. However, they rarely use the trams anymore, and when they use a couple of the trams you are dropped off far away from the entrance.

That's all. I wandered around the lot about half an hour at one point (why not? Most of the roller coasters were closed), and no one even noticed. Oh, wait...there was an occasional call box with a blue button on it to use in event of emergency...

Good one. I can't agree more with that statement. But of course I don't have to worry about the $10 parking fee with my season pass.

$10 to park is a liitle much, and I think they could take some of the sting out of it by giving you a coupon for a free soda, or something small like that.

Why? Holiday World will give you free soda with no coupon and they don't charge for parking either...

I can just see the ads HW would run with that one!

Why pay $11 for a soda and parking when you can get both in Santa Claus, Indiana where your admission gets you FREE soda all day and FREE parking! And a ride on The Voyage, our new wood coaster, too!

Let's not forget that the $30 seasonal charge for parking is completely reasonable. Just stick to that..

Now, while Cedar Fair parks may be lowering their admission prices, and selling cotton candy for 25¢, it doesn't necessarily mean parking prices and some food prices are going down. Parking at Cedar Point and Geauga Lake is still $9 (maybe $10). They may not offer trams, but they definitely have staff to direct drivers to the right spaces. Therefore, I wouldn't rule out Cedar Fair buying Paramount Parks.

The Premium/Preferred parking sections are a good idea - parks like PKI and BGW (or BGE) have them. Kennywood also has pay parking areas closer to the gate - but the lots further away are free, and are serviced by the chair lift and escalators. I wouldn't mind if even Holiday World charged for a premium parking area that was paved, while keeping most of their parking free.
