December 5, 200520 yr Hey guys, I am just a little curious... With the recent closing of Six Flags Astroworld and the demolition plans allready under-way... you think PKI could have purchased any of the rides for 2006? It's not totally out of the blue for PKI to do something like this! So what do you think? -Hauntguy
December 5, 200520 yr Thats a good question, although since Six Flags owns the rides and has quite a few other parks, most of them will probably be relocated to other Six Flags parks.
December 5, 200520 yr Plus with the exception of the initial move from Coney, when have you known PKI to get a 2nd hand ride?
December 5, 200520 yr Author Well... never, but! PKI has used, used equipment in the past! The Wild Thornberry's River adventure is not new! It's simply the flumes redesigned. Some tracks are somewhat new, but mostly just the addition of theming! The Vortex facade clearly belongs to The Bat! I also hate to relate everything back to Fearfest, but PKI bought the "Circus of Horrors in 3D"... USED!!! Better known as "TerrorVisions in 3D" to other parks. I am just saying, it would not be uncommon for ANY park to purchase and use used equipment! -Hauntguy
December 5, 200520 yr Well, the Wild Thronberrys is still the same flume that was located at Coney. The only difference is that O. D. Hopkins retrofitted some of the supports from the old wood beams to steel beams, and replaced most of the fiberglass track with stainless steel. The nes trough still follows the course of the old trough (and all the supports are still original). And, the first Fear Fest in 2000, all the haunts were rented, and thus used. (PKI wasn`t sure if they were going to do FearFest for good, so that year was a trial run.) I would say that PKI won`t be buying any rides from SFAW. Most of those rides already have dates with other SF parks for next season.
December 5, 200520 yr I heard that all SFAW coasters are for sale to other companies, they are only reusing some flat rides. -Jake
December 5, 200520 yr Swat! would make a nice addition to PKI. Six Flags New England will be getting SWAT and Diablo Falls from AstroWorld. Diablo Falls is similar to the Penguin's Blizzard River raft ride at Six Flags America near Washington, DC:
