Info needed on Defuct *pay* PKI ride

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am looking for information on a pay ride at PKI.

This ride consisted of a large pool like tank with netting up about 6 feet above the pool that went all around the pool. There were boats that could hold 2 people per boat. One person drove the boat and the other was the gunner. Both positions had a pnematic tennis ball gun. The gunner's position was able to spin 360 degrees and fire in any direction. There were similar guns mounted around the pool so spectators could fire at each at the boats. As well as the boats in the water could fire at the spectators or other boats in the pool/tank.

This ride stood behind the Scrappy-Doo Giant Slide within the Rivertown part of PKI. It was up between late 80's and early 90's. Maybe about 3-5 years???

Anyone remember this ride and the name of it???

What ever happened to it??

I am not quite sure if I know exactly what ride you are talking about. I do recall a ride similar to that, but I am not sure if that was at PKI or another theme park.

AHH!

I remember that!

I was a little kid when it was there, lol. It was called Something Tanks. I don't remember the exact name, but it was something Tanks. it was like right on the edge of Rivertown and Hanna Barbera Land.

I'm pretty sure it was scrapped. I didn't see it go to any other park.

I loved that thing even though I was always too small to do it but I think you could throw tennis balls at them but I am not sure about that one.

I remember that ride. I was pretty young then, but remember being in the boat in the gunner position and my dad driving the thing around. I just remember balls flying everywhere and the sound of the pneumatic guns going off.

I would love to see some pictures of it, because I had forgotten all about it.

Wild N Crazy Kids and Double Dare were two different shows. There used two be a Double Dare game located next to the Nick theatre and the Slime Zone.

I dunno about it being there. I know orlando has the main studio for double dare. I know wild and crazy kids had that type of ride on their show.

Yes, the tennis balls were fired at the boats from outside the pool and each boat could fire at the other boats and people sanding around watching and firing back.

The best thing was to catch a person off guard on the outside of the pool and fire at them. There was a large protective net to keep the balls from flying out of the pool area.

I am basing the time period from when the Scrappy-Doo slide was taken out.

I wish I could find some photos of this to show you.

It was one COOL ride!!

Was that the Chuck E. Cheese style thing with the ball pits and stuff?

Yes with the course at the end of the show and you had to get the flags in an amount of time.

^No, that was removed in 2001 for Reptar and Thornberries. The Double Dare thing was like a game next to the slime maze, I only remember seeing it when I was about 8.

I remember that, my cousin and I did it several times. I cant remember what it was called but it did end in tanks. You didnt shoot tennis balls at people, you shot it at each others tank. That was so cool, I think it was like 6-8 dollars to do it and it was right next to the giant scrappy doo slide. This was also the same time that they had the giant shooting gallery in coney mall where you would pay 50cents and you got like 10 balls to shoot at the targets. They were little rubber balls kind of like raquet balls and there were a bunch of moving targets to shoot at.

I remember that ride my mom would not let on it she said it cost to much. Also over at themeparkreview.com they do have a picture of one still working. Hope that helps out.

I'm pretty sure the ride was called Boat Tag and it was indeed located near the Rivertown/HB border. I never played, but it always looked like fun.

LOL!!! Wow, did you bring back memories!!! At first I remember thinking "what the heck is he talking about??" And then it all came back to me...except the name...sorry about that :-)

The Double Dare thing I don't remember...but I do remember before Nick Central was brought into the park, the balls you would go into like at Chuck E. Cheese, right by the Sunshine Turnpike :-)

Also, does anyone rember right between the Keelboats and The Beast there used to be a display for swimming pools and people were swimming in it? It was a loooonnng time ago, lol

Yup! It was Kyaak Pools. That's when a lot of the rides had specific sponsors.
