SFOG announces GOLIATH

Featured Replies

Atlanta - September 1, 2005 - Six Flags Over Georgia is preparing to unleash a GIANT in 2006. Soaring over 200 ft. above the park and covering an area 8.5 acres in size, this much-anticipated steel monster will appropriately be called: GOLIATH.[/b]

I've been wanting to go down to Atlanta to see the city and SFOG - this is a better reason to go! Although an old parachute drop ride (few of these remain) was removed to make way, this will definitely (IMO) fill the void, as the fan of B&Ms and hypers that I am.

Looks like another good hypercoaster from B&M. I haven't been to SFOG since I was about 8 or 9 years old.

Yes i have to admit B&M hypercoasters are great.

Thats makes me want to make a trip down there to ride that animal. B&M are such great ride desingers.

And we can't add one of these why? Apparently the cash strapped Six Flags can....

Oh that's right, we got Italian Job.

laugh.gif Funny stuff, AZ.

Just remember: "Paramounts Kings Island is a family park, and the much anticipated addition for 2006 is a Nickelodeon area expansion that will please all our guests."

... hold me back from racing to get my '06 season pass.

I am not trying to be a fanboy for CP, but after CP won the Golden Ticket again this year, many wondered how they could, even though CP did not have the traditional 1- 5% increase in attendance. SF is not building a "record breaking" coaster, but a style of coaster that has a successful track record from a successful company. If PKI would build a coaster like the new one at SFoG, they could quite possibly win the Golden Ticket for best park. Being the park that FINALLY beat out CP would be quite an accomplishment.

Some questions are easily answered...

This is what I have been trying to say for a while.

Why do I like B&M? Airtime, family friendly, smooth, reliable, highly rated, high capacity.

PKI has the opportunity to become my favorite park once again, and to steal that Golden Ticket from CP. IJST has some appeal, but it is limited. And while we're on CP, I find it surprising that IJST has a height requirement of 48": the same as Millennium Force, once again rated #1 steel coaster by Amusement Today. And why is the MF line often so long after 5 years: people love it.

What I get from some posters on this board is that PKI is the absolute best park ever, and that Six Flags parks are horrible. Both chains have their pros and cons, and as a fan of the amusement industry, I am not shy to point them out.

I think Six Flags has alot of high points with huge coasters that are smooth! Six Flags isnt afraid to shell out the extra dollar for a better high thrill ride. But Six Flags tend to higher bad staff and tend to not get trains out in a decant amount of times. They also have a decant kiddie area better than Cedar Fairs but not as good as paramounts. But only a few SF parks are actually good. The other smaller parks which are smaller and dirty tend to bring their rep. down.

SF "may" (Given the price tags of rides such as MF, WT, and TTD it is hard to believe that SF signature park, Magic Mountain, spends close to that) spend more to build rides, it is too bad that they don't spend more on maintaining their rides.

THIS ride looks really good! Ive been on all the B&M hyper coasters in the U.S. and I like Nitro the best! With no brake run on this thing this will hopefully result in a lot of great ejetion air! I cant wait to ride this giant when i go back down to the ATL next summer!
