PKI's Showing at 2005 Golden Tickets

Featured Replies

Kings Island had a decent year this year at the Golden tickets and I think it recieved more awards than last year. Here's a listing of PKI's awards from the 2005 Golden Tickets.

-IJ:ST 3rd best new ride of the year

-Best Children's area 5th year running

-2nd best game area

-Beast 8th best wooden coaster

-SOB 31st best wooden coaster

-Racer 46th best wooden coaster

The most noticable thing that PKI didn't get this year that it did last year is a top five water park rating, but compared to other water parks BB never really should have been top 5.

I'm surprised IJ got 3 best new roller coaster!

Where can I find the complete results?

here are all the 2005 Golden Ticket results. Lots of awards are obviously very disputable but I still just like looking at them even if I disagree with lots of the stuff.

thejoker8388, such as Kingda Ka making it on the Best New Ride for 2005 list when it just opened a couple of weeks ago and these awards were decided way before then huh.gif Hmmm.....

Id hate to say it but I dont understand how PKI or a ton of other parks did not get the top 5 for friendliest employees when Cedar Point made it in there. Cedar Point even outranked All the disney parks except for Magic Kingdom...

It's weird though with the percentage rating for Best New Ride.

Best New Ride for 2005 (Amusement Park)

Hades-Mt. Olympus Theme Park..............45%

Kingda Ka-Six Flags Great Adventure.......16%

Italian Job-Paramount's Kings Island........8%

maXair-Cedar Point................................6% (tie)

Powderkeg-Silver Dollar City...................6% (tie)

SheiKra-Busch Gardens Williamsburg.......6% (tie)

With as much time PKI spent advertising and promoting IJ:ST, you would think thi would recieve a higher rating. But I guess with the reservation ticket problem early in the season, and the conistent down-time it recieved, it's no wonder it got 8%. mad.gif

By the Way, Powderkeg and SheiKra should've been at least #2 and #3; they are both amazing rides, and Powderkeg has a much better fire effect than IJ:ST.

Kingda's so called airtime hill is pointless its there just to help slow the train down faster.

The Beast shouldn't even be listed as far as I am concerned.

And what is with CP being the number one park? With the slipping guest I think they should have lost a few spots.

MF is no way near the best steel coaster out thier. It only has airtime on the drop and the few hills that bearly give you any airtime. There are much better steel coasters out there.

A cool fact Warner Stenial has 74% of the top 50 steel coasters.

Have you actually been on Kingda Ka? Do you know for a fact that there is no airtime on that bunny hop? Or, are you just going by what others have told you?

Cool.

"Kingda Ka has alot more downtime then IJST."

True enough, but record breakers attract more attention.

"And what is with CP being the number one park? With the slipping guest I think they should have lost a few spots."

The voting was actually done before the season started. So, I'm thinking next year PKI will take over that spot. If not, it's rigged. blink.gif

I suspect that with the Nickelodeon Central expansion, PKI will also get the children's area Golden Ticket award next year.

Have a great day!
