An apparent “leak” suggesting Kingda Ka is getting the axe

^Is all you do now is just post the same thing over and over again?  The dead horse you're continually beating is decomposing at this point.

I know I've said it several times, but I sadly believe its true. With this merger happening they're going to strip and destroy every other park to keep Cedar Point the flagship. And I believe this is just the start.

Ka is coming down. So now TT2 and Cedar Point reign supreme, not Great Adventure. But yeah, that hydraulic launch has got to be a headache.

As much as it pains me to say this, I firmly believe X2/Viper is next.

Yeah, it's definitely weird favoritism for literally no reason (the current Six Flags CEO was GM of Kings Dominion from 1998 to 2007, a.k.a. a time in which Paramount Parks was in competition with Ced

Cedar Fair does not exist. And no, they don't. Six Flags doesn't operate how YOU play Planet Coaster. You didn't read what I said.

We're all sad and disappointed in this decision by Six Flags, but we gotta move on. At this point, we should just be excited for the new 2026 ride coming to Great Adventure. Rides have to close, but that usually means that new ones are built. We shouldn't focus on the past, but look forward to the future of theme parks.

Cedar Fair is going to do what it takes to keep Cedar Point the flagship. And this is exactly why I despise them. Cedar Point gets flagship addition after addition and every other park gets subpar additions. No park from now on will be able to overshadow Cedar Point in any way and they're going to make sure of it.

Well, I can tell you the park down South has better wooden coasters!

Unless, some Schell head decides those are to be removed too. :P

Ah what the schell! Apparently Carolina Cyclone closes for good on Jan 4....per ride crew/maintenance per Mr. Schell.

I carefully chose the word usually because there are some scenarios (like Vortex) where the park completely ignores large areas for possible expansion.

Demo has begun.

Dam you Cedar Fair. There is absolutely nothing that can convince me there wasn't malice involved in this decision., combined with the insane maintenance costs and operating costs. What better way to start off Cedar Points 2025 season than marketing TT2 as the tallest and fastest  coaster in the US?

And apparently reddit users are saying the same thing:

This merger, with Cedar Fair executives running the show, is going to be the beginning of the downfall of Great Adventure IMO. No park in the US is going to be allowed to surpass Cedar Point. Hide and watch.

Or an unanticipated/unplanned expense popped up and the determination was made to remove prior to its planned departure and thus nothing was identified in the 5 year plan....better to remain empty and get a worthy replacement than to just shove something in there to appease those few enthusiasts upset that a piece of land is vacant....

I don't agree with the decisions made since the Cedar Fair and Six Flags merger—I hate them, to be honest. But claiming this is some plot to keep Cedar Point on top is just nonsense.

The sheer scale of Kingda Ka makes every repair exponentially more expensive. A single malfunction in the launch system or a minor structural issue becomes a multimillion-dollar headache due to the ride's height, speed, and the engineering required. No park, not even Great Adventure, can sustainably absorb those costs indefinitely.

This isn’t about Cedar Point or “keeping anyone on top”—it’s about the unsustainable nature of maintaining something as extreme as Kingda Ka. Strata coasters like this aren’t built to last forever, and the decision to remove it is a logical, albeit unfortunate, financial move.

Ka’s fate was likely sealed with the TT2 fiasco.  So in a sense yes, it’s Cedar Point’s fault. :P

Serious question because I don't know the answer:

Is there another park in the chain that brings in the numbers/cash/positive business more than Cedar Point does? People already travel multiple hours to go to Cedar Point, is there a reason to not try to get those numbers at another park that people would travel to?

Ka will be imploded between February 11th and the 16th. One week left and shes gone forever.

It sucks I'll never get Ka now. But I did get TT2 last year on opening day (I got LUCKY. Lol) Ka isnt  my #1 dream ride though and I am ok with having missed it.

My #1 missed/dream credit? You all already know.

If weather permits, today's the day.

Goodbye Ka. If i find footage of the implosion, I'll post it here.

I never got to ride KingDda Ka, but seeing it get destroyed hurts. It was such an important part of turning me into an enthusiast around 2017 when I was about 9. This tears me up a little, but nothing lasts forever and hopefully the "record breaking launch coaster" ends up being just as iconic in 20 years. RIP Ka.

It definitely fell a different way than I anticipated it, lol. I thought it'd be more forward than it did.

Here's from the sky:

Me as well. Never got to experience Ka, but I have no doubt that it was great. It's sad to see any roller coaster explode and break into a million pieces...especially this one. The implosion was satisfying as well as very very sad.

Question: Is Six Flags not going to sell those track pieces? It seems like a no-brainier to sell those track pieces because so many people would buy them. They could make some good money off of that.

Personally, I preferred Top Thrill Dragster to Kingda Ka.  TTD only had lapbars compared to the meh OTSR's on Ka.  Also, they didn't do great on maintaining Ka's paint as it felt like you were going over a highway rumble strip at 128 mph.   The extra hill didn't really add all that much IMO.

Though,  Big Droppy Thing (the Drop Tower connected to Ka which I'm to lazy to look up the spelling), was my favorite Drop Tower.

I think a lot of people forget they're losing 2 rides with this.  SFGAdv could definitely use a Drop Tower soon.

I personally agree that Top Thrill Dragster was better than Kingda Ka however it's still hurts to see it go and even more so that great adventure has lost so many other rides the past two seasons

I preferred TTD to Kingda Ka. Kingda Ka was rough and the OTSR's were definitely a pain. I will only miss this ride for Zumanjaro, that was an epic Drop Tower!

Also sharing the video I posted in the other thread:

I rode Falcon's Fury once at Busch Gardens Tampa, and that was the most craziest Drop Tower ever! But that was like 325 feet tall or something. Zumanjaro is a lot taller than that, so I can't believe the feeling of that crazy drop!File:Falcon's Fury Tower.jpg - Wikimedia Commons

All so Cedar Point can be king . All so Cedar Point can have the only one........

I really hope TT2 fails miserably now. Lol.

Why would you ever hope for that? I'm hoping to get on TT2 because I haven't gotten on it and I've heard it's amazing. Be careful what you say, your wish may just be granted.

And why would SIX add Rapterra or AlpenFury if they want Cedar Point to be king?
