From Kings Island's website, the park will host a day long celebration on the 29th of April exactly 50 years from when the park opened. It'll feature special ceremonies and entertainment throughout the day and a special fireworks spectacular to honor the park's first 50 years.

Have the shows been announced yet? It's less than 50 days till opening and I haven't heard anything.

It will be interesting to see if they bring back shows this year in the International Showplace and the KI Theater.  I know they had the temporary stage built across from the train station last year.

They said on Twitter they'll be announcing the lineup later this month.

Not my circus, not my monkeys.

But I would say that’s certain to happen. 

I might have to take the day off work for that. I might have to wait until a week or so before then to get a better idea of what the weather will be like that day though - don't want to take the day off for a special celebration at KI if it's going to be cold and rainy all day.

Kind of a coin flip for me, definitely more willing if I get off work early.
