July 8, 20215 yr Not sure if this has been posted, but Charles Dinn, head of Construction at KI for a number of years (who lead the team to build "The Beast") has passed away at 88. He also was responsible for the relocation and building of several coasters across the country - under his firm Dinn/Summers - after he left Kings Island. Here's a link to his obituary: https://www.brewerfuneral.com/obituaries/Charles-J-Dinn?obId=21626357&fbclid=IwAR3Tu4prfRNaDjzzFxsl56CX15JHCTB23nlpynv908KUioy8kYKRAx9rfik
July 8, 20215 yr Author When the Dinn Corporation ceased operations, Charlie’s daughter Denise re- formed the company as CCI.
July 9, 20215 yr And a member of CCI's team, plus one of its designers, created Great Coasters International... which also spawned Skyline Attractions. And after CCI ceased operation, The Gravity Group was formed by several of its engineers. Plus S&S's (short lived) wood coaster division was headed by Denise after CCI closed. The amusement industry would be very different today if Charles Dinn hadn't worked at Kings Island and co-created The Beast.
July 13, 20215 yr ^ And If The Beast was created with his same layout, but created by GCI who knows how great a ride that would be! I'm not saying Kings Island should re-build The Beast, but just saying how cool that would be. Rest in peace Charles Dinn and God Bless you and your family!
July 13, 20215 yr Sorry to hear this. He had a huge impact, Gravity Group obviously traces its roots back to Dinn and The Beast as does GCI. Even RMC owes him to some extent considering that both their first coaster and best coaster were built on top of Dinn rides.
