What is the minimum temperature for MT during WF?

Featured Replies

I'm planning to go to Winterfest on December 16th, and the forecast says hi of 34 (I know that's still a long way out and that could change and probably will). Would MT be able to run? I'd probably only take one spin on it.

I want to say I saw an interview with Don Helbig where he mentioned the start up temp needing to be 23.  I could totally be wrong, of course.

I don't know the exact minimum temperature for Mystic Timbers...but I do know that as long as the ride is started at or above the minimum temperature it can typically run if the temperature drops below it, barring any other unforeseen circumstances.

Start up temp for MT is 35 degrees, but can run in lower temps once it’s running. I’m thinking he said maybe 25, but doubt people would even ride it at that temp. This was said at the ACE Ohio Holiday party by Don.

I can confirm it is 35 degrees for us to start the ride and get her going.

So, by that statement, this Saturday is not looking good for Mystic Timbers?

Honestly, I have no idea.

I would say probably not. Then again I’m not going to Winterfest to ride coasters. Go enjoy the Winterfest activities. :)

I rode some coasters last year at SFSTL at around 30F.  It really isn't that bad as most coasters are at around 2 minutes and it feels brisk and exhilarating.  A 4 minute Beast ride might be pushing it.   Although doesn't it take like three of those minutes to crawl up the lift hill?

@exscream team and I can attest that The Beast is excellent at 27°, as experienced the day before closing day back in 2014.

Glad to hear MT is running great at that temperature, @JubJester! I'll need to make it there on a cold night this season when it's running.

Looking at the forecast for this Saturday, looks like temps won't be an issue.

Tempts are not the issue. The snow is the issue. If there is too much snow of the tracks, it will slow the ride. Causing the valley that occurred on Saturday.

Seeing that the high is 46 with sunny weather, snow won't be an issue either on Saturday.

I ended up getting 3 rides last night. It didn't feel too bad on the ride although it was a little chilly during one of my rides.
