2017 Kings Island park changes & upgrades

Featured Replies

Some of these may have been covered in the 2017 discussion thread, but I think minor changes and additions are deserving of their own topic. And I think these are all 2017, but I also didn't visit much in 2016 and some may be from last year...

  • Skyline Chili in Coney Mall not only has queue rails, but self-service kiosks
  • The Airbrush shop near Viking Fury has new signs
  • Hank's Burrito Shack is now Hank's Mexican Grill and has a new sign, sans the sombrero-wearing character
  • Adventure Express' sign was repainted
  • The Christian Moerlein beer garden in Oktoberfest is now Budweiser Biergarten
  • The Oktoberfest restrooms were re-modeled and look really nice now.

The restrooms in Oktoberfest were remodeled for the 2016 season. Mr. Scheid tweeted about it during the off season. (I'm assuming these are the same restrooms across from Hank's, near the entrance to the area Formerly Known As Coney Mall.)

Any idea what beers they serve? Any locals, or all In-Bev now?

Noticed this on Tuesday.  Looks really nice!

There was speculation about the restraints on Drop Tower.  They are the same restraints but the hard foam has been completely replaced and they have a lot more room.  Last year I had to get a little help to push them down, now I can easily fit.  So anyone who has had trouble before I would try again.

EDIT:  Just to add the ride does have at least one short seat belt.  I think it was seat 33 but it is easily an inch shorter than the other seats I rode in today.

I visited Kings Island this summer for the first time, I'm 6 foot 2 and weights 300 lbs, I decided to try the Drop Tower Scream Zone to see will it fit me. Ride Operator encourage me to try it out. I went to the exit to go in seat number 10, it took three pushes of the black shoulder harness to get the short safety belt in, it went in, maybe was tighter fit but rode it anyways. Also went in line to ride it again and again in seat number 1. So far Drop Tower Scream Zone is my favorite thrill ride at Kings Island. I try seat number 40, and it was a very short safety belt but almost there.
