I know it's not quite 2017, but Kings Island posted on Facebook today that Soak City will be opening in 163 days. That means it will be opening May 27, 2017.

No official word yet on when the park itself will open, but we're down to a likely 120-130 days.

I already have an update tho. Just checked the app, and we do have official word: the park opens to the public April 16th, 2017. 122 days. I'm betting on a preview for passholders on the 15th.

Really? That's a Sunday though, usually closed to a private event. You sure that is accurate information?

I still say the park will open on Friday, April 15th. Its Good Friday. Remember Banshee opened on Good Friday in 2014.

Friday is the 14th next year. I do think the park will be opening on the 15th (Saturday) though. With a preview on Friday I hope.

I hope it is a Saturday opening with preview friday.... would work out much better with my schedule...

Preview night has been a good time to ride with minimal crowds the past couple seasons. I probably don't need to say this, but light crowds should not be expected with the premiere of a new, major coaster - passholder exclusive or not!

 

Easter Sunday would be a good day for riding, assuming the park is open then. Many people, myself included, have other plans that day & won't be in front of you in line.

I'd love a Friday opening with a preview night on Thursday.  That's not going to happen, but I would love it!

I am going to agree with PKIVortex on this opening day. Banshee opened on Good Friday 2014 and mid April shows Good Friday on April 14, KI Media Day on Thursday or Wednesday. No coaster clubs will be allowed this year [emoji17]. They did have a special auction the night before Opening Day for A Kid Again for night rides on Banshee in 2014 and hopefully will do it again for 2017 with Mystic Timbers.

I would bet more fact than opinion considering that CP didn't allow any coaster clubs for Valravn but not 100% confirmed.

I wonder if they are going to allow visitors if we have a Preview Night to ride Mystic Timber's?  Or try to keep the secret in #whatsintheshed a mystery one more day.

I asked Don Helbig about it closing weekend, and he said there will not be a blanket invitation for coaster clubs to Mr. T's media day like there apparently was for Banshee's. He did say there will/may be opportunities to win an invite before then though. I'm betting on Twitter and possibly Snapchat contests.

entitled enthusiasts thinking they have a right to go to media day, when its a privilege when a park invites you

The official word from the park is that the ride capacity and location in Rivertown would preclude an event as big as Banshee's Media Day. There will be some enthusiast representation, but there's not room for everyone this time.

 

Many of us will be at the charity fundraiser event for unlimited riding before it officially opens, and Coasterstock participants are likely to get hours of ERT on Mystic Timbers (and Beast, Banshee, Diamondback & more).

I got an email with some of next years events, and one of the first ones is 'Education Day'. It's on Friday, April 28th, 2017. So maybe opening day is Friday, April 21st. Saturday, April 22nd, Friday April 14th, or Saturday April 15th. lol I know I just put 4 different dates for the possible opening day. But I have a feeling it'll be Friday, April 21st.

They will very likely correlate it with Worlds of Fun opening day/weekend, as they have for at least the past 5 years.  With that being the case, plan for a preview night on Friday, April 14th (which is WoF actual opening day) and an opening day of Saturday, April 15th.  I am rather puzzled as to why WoF is opening on a Friday, with preview night on a Thursday, but I digress.

Cause Friday is Good Friday. Keep in mind they have been no mention of a preview night for 2017. The park opened on Good Friday in 2014 why couldn't they do it again?

Anyway, in regards to KI 2017 discussion, I feel that the parks plans in regards to how they are going to play Media Day and/or the early rider charity event will determine whether or not they hold a preview night at this park in 2017.  If they do one or both on Friday, I think that could be a factor in only those people ride before official Opening Day, although one or both of those events could be held on Thursday.  All of that aside, I am going for a Saturday, April 15th opening as I said two posts ago.

I don't know if I'm going to look up and see '#whatsintheshed' or if I'm not going to look any of it up and just see what's in it my first ride. I hope it's nothing jump scare cause you wouldn't want to be around me if there's a jump scare part to something!

I do believe that KI will open on Good Friday which is April 14th. I see Media Day being the Morning of the 12th which is that Wednesday. With Gold and Platinum Season Pass Holder Preview being Thursday April 13.

By my understanding the Mystic Timber trains as of right now are scheduled to start arriving late January to early February!
