Statement from the park:

At approximately 7:20 pm, Carowinds security officers reported a shooting in the bus parking lot outside the park. We can confirm that a juvenile male has been transported for medical treatment. We are assisting both Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police and the York County Sheriff's Office in this active investigation. There is no additional information available at this time.

Heart breaking that my home park has to deal with crap like this, but I really think that all amusement parks should require id of the adults and minors that are being dropped off. That way should something happen the parks would have an idea as to who may be involved and who to call for an emergency contact. I figure three line employees doing such would cost around $500-700 a day.

very sad, but not really surprising, Carowinds isn't on the nicest side of town..

Terp, profoundly disturbed, thinking of a four letter word that begins and ends with the letter g.

An eyewitness at the gas station next to the park, heard a guy in a car, say he wanted to go into the park and assault the victim...  I'm very glad that didn't happen.

Again? That's less than twenty minutes from my house...

Very unfortunate event to happen at Carowinds, barely a year after that giant parking lot fight.

And to think that we live in the most peaceful time in human history...

So if I go next year maybe look for a campground not close by?

Carowinds has a campground behind the park. While not quite the nicest part of Charlotte, it is far from the worst.
