Seeing that the low is 18° tomorrow night, I'd probably be wearing a coat.

"Probably"? PROBABLY?!?!

I don't know how you can even THINK of being out tomorrow night without a coat. :P

This was probably the most amazing atmosphere you could have imagined for Winterfest. It’s cold, snow on everything and still snowing. So glad I made the trip tonight.

  • Here's two pictures of the Eiffel Tower I just took (all taken in legal locations). Seems the lights on the back of the tower are the only ones on as of now.  They also have som

  • Drove by again due to having nothing else better to do. The big tree in front of the gate is now lit up:

Planning on going to the park on Sunday, my wife and daughter can't wait and I am looking forward to it as well!  I am planning on buying one of the $10 The Beast hot chocolate mugs.  Can anyone tell me if that is the refillable mug that they have been advertising?

No, it is not refillable.  But it is a great souvenir.

Mystic Timbers just valleyed. I can't believe they even tried. lol

(Note the train: It didn't valley there, it almost made it to the final brakes. I would think they could winch it out easily as it's in that last dip before the shed, though I wouldn't be shocked if they give up on it for tonight).

I got lucky and flipped the webcam on and watched it happen in real time. The train valleyed in the final section right before the shed. The screenshot I shared was of the train that eventually valleyed. I figured it was worth taking a screenshot regardless of the outcome since it was amazing that they were even testing it with snow on the tracks (and it was throwing a TON of snow as it rounded that curve which was impressive to see). I switched to the other camera and saw it rocking back in fourth in the final valley. I'd imagine you might be able to see it from the train if anyone's crazy enough to go today. lol

Here you go. You have to give them props for trying. Since it’s a new coaster they would have to see where the threshold was concerning cold and snow. Of course an empty train is going to go much slower and more of a chance to valley.

I don't think anyone mentioned it, but they've moved Tom+Chee into the Planet Snoopy Grill location (I believe temporarily for Winterfest)

Hmmm good to know. In line at Festus now. I guess the food service in here starts at 5?

The “Winterfest” mug is refillable. It’s a white mug that is refillable for free the night that you buy it and refillable for a $1 each subsequent visit.

We just tried to get on about 30 minutes ago. Was told it would not run in the snow :(

Boo lol. Well, at least now we know; safety never takes a holiday, you know. Just out of curiosity, are there any characters outside or is it too cold?

There is a video of someone of the stuck empty train on youtube that someone took while riding the regular train.

I'm glad they tried to get Mystic Timbers started tonight, even though the combination of cold temperatures, snow on the track, and gusty winds was apparently too much. Hopefully they'll have better luck tomorrow!

Characters are out. Train is down also.

Question: with Mystic stuck over the reservoir, how do they do the pull through to get the train from it’s current spot?

What are the chances of Mystic being open tomorrow?

After tonight, I get the feeling they will be trying much harder to get Mystic running

Seems like they were recovering the train prior to park closing last night.

And at BGE, Invadr valleyed during the park’s winter event as well due to snow on the track.

...and amazingly, it opened today! Had a fantastic ride on The Orange Menace tonight as well as had my best (Winterfest) ride yet on the train (the train at night has creeped me out my past 2 times, but I somewhat enjoyed it this time). Also got to mingle with the characters some (met Tinsel Frost for the first time) and ensured they were keeping warm. Finally, got to see 3 of my favorite shows tonight: Tinkers, Twas the Plight Before Christmas, and Jingle Jazz. It was a cold night, but it was a good night.

Thanks to those working the event for braving the cold so that guests can have fun!

So Knott’s has a cute shirt for their “Merry Farm”. (You’ll see me wearing this and/or one of the other 2 shirts I got out there last week at KI next year.)

Has anyone seen something special for Winterfest?

^KI has the same graphic, only it says "Winterfest" at the top. I thought it odd it doesn't say KI at all but I still really like mine.

There are also a large number of other t-shirts, sweatshirts, and long sleeved ts. One of my favorites that I only "discovered" on my last (7th) visit, is this one:IMG_7151.JPG

I can't believe how crowded it is tonight, I don't think Kings Island could have even anticipated this type of turnout for Winterfest this year.

Decent weather (for December standards) certainly helps.  Haven't had a real bad snow storm yet.
