...which means many of those refillers will no longer be jumping lines and clogging up lines at food service locations. Great move, Kings Island!

  • Here is a Google Maps Street View look at that area previously:     Because when you're a complete Kings Island nerd, you look at Kings Island during the off-season with Google Maps Street View,

I was just thinking again about the question "since tearing down one funnel cake stand only to build another seems like a lot of work, and moving WWC's entrance doesn't eliminate the need to cross the

Blacktop being removed in favor of either concrete or pavers yay.

Seeing a lot of activity back out by The Beast and Old Crypt towards the woods. Seems to be more trucks parked in that lot. Maybe nothing, but seems to be a new path behind Slaughter House going out towards Diamondback's hammerhead turn. I never knew of any path there before. Anyone else know if this existed before?

Remember in 2013 on opening day when everyone walked in and seen the fence and the signs?

This may not be one of those times.

Couldn't figure out where to put this so I figured here would work since it's Rivertown and it's a stand :P

Looking at the webcams.....made me realize something.....there is a building next to Diamondback's maintenance shed, that seems to only have it's lights on when the park isn't open.

Have you ever seen this building open? Do they sell something from it? If so, what?

I've seen it used maybe once in the past few years and they sold souvenir bottles. As of recently I'm not so sure!

Tropical Isle or something like that. They sell smoothies.  I've seen it open maybe 3 times in the last 30 years.  Seriously :|

Yeah.. always a huge shame... I LOVE smoothies. Not a fan of soda (usually) or beer.. and let's face it.. water can get boring if it's the ONLY thing you drink.

I need some smoothies in my KI day. It's why I get the frozen lemonades mmmm

That stand has been an anomaly. Only very rarely do I see it open on a regular basis. In the past 5 years, I've seen it open 0 times. Other people may have been more lucky, but not me.

I tend to avoid the busiest days so I assumed that's why I never saw it open. But since I've had my pass the last two years, I've never seen it open either.

See his post above.

Actor Activated Triggers.

I think it's a term he made up.

EDIT: Posted at same time...

I am not certain about other haunted houses but I know Universal Studios uses Actor Activated Triggers to describe anything triggered by an actor at Halloween Horror Nights.  There is also a GAT, Guest Activated Trigger.  There is another term for automated triggers as well but I cannot remember it off the top of my head.  At Universal almost all noise is from a speaker so that the actors do not have to worry about using or losing their voice.

^And, in general, these scares are much more effective than some teenager shouting and flailing their arms. Plus, as they're less demanding on the actor, it probably helps Universal to retain its performers longer.

It would appear that the Tomb Raider: The Ride onride photo booth is now gone. I'd imagine that the crossing for the railroad tracks will be a fairly decent size because of it.

Just watched the webcam. Seems to be a lot of traffic coming from the back of Diamondback past where the new WWC entrance is. Not just 1 but at least 5 trucks back where I have circled.573a1084200dcb29397cbce0dc091793.jpg

That would be a service road under the tree cover....trucks, cars, golf carts, etc. pass through there numerous times a day.

  • 2 weeks later...

Any update for those who've been to the park this year? The 2016 thread has way too many posts for me to go through!

There's a wall blocking the old funnel cake stand/old WWC entrance, it has signs that say watch for falling trees. Survey markers and some trees that have been tagged with green paint can be seen from the train. That's the run down of definites so far.

Oh, and WWC and its supply reservoir is still drained because, they say, it is undergoing repairs.
