November 28, 201510 yr http://www.sanduskyregister.com/Blog/2015/11/25/New-Kinzel-bio-reveals-how-famous-roller-coasters-were-created.html Good for a laugh or two...
November 28, 201510 yr I missed the laughs. A. It's a Tom Jackson piece. B. This just leaves me very, very sad.
November 28, 201510 yr Author I'm not familiar enough with the Sandusky paper to know exactly what's to be expected from various writers... This is one part I found funny... The last part of the book is a bit sad, as Kinzel's last few years at the helm were tough, and he hasn't particularly enjoyed retirement. A volunteer group such as SCORE would certainly benefit from Kinzel's brilliance. SCORE is apparently a charitable group that "provides business mentoring services to entrepreneurs" according to Wikipedia. I'm not sure his "brilliance" would be appreciated by them or the businesses they serve. Also note that the book is available on Amazon for those who want it: http://amzn.com/0974332461
November 28, 201510 yr The book is also available on Amazon for those who don't want it. I'll wait until it's remaindered. That may be at least several weeks.
November 28, 201510 yr Note also Tom Jackson, who can't keep Cedar Point and Cedar Fair straight, refers to the new Gateway coaster. And his first two words are "Thank heavens." Objectivity. Accuracy. Tom Jackson?
November 28, 201510 yr Author Right. That's why I said the article was good for a laugh or two. I know CP is probably the biggest attraction in Sandusky, but still. And papers wonder why people don't want to subscribe anymore. The Cincinnati paper even resorted to having a deal on Groupon recently (discounted digital subscription with optional physical Sunday paper).
November 28, 201510 yr Note also Tom Jackson, who can't keep Cedar Point and Cedar Fair straight, refers to the new Gateway coaster. I'm just waiting for Thrill_Biscuit to create an image of Gatekeeper themed to Gateway computers...
November 30, 201510 yr so a second giga-coaster for Cedar Point was in the works but they went with Gatekeeper. I would have never seen that coming.
December 2, 201510 yr If someone actually buys this book, I would be interested to know what Kinzel's side of the Appolo story actually is. I can't begin to imagine what a person could say to try to justify that criminal behavior.
December 5, 201510 yr I got a signed copy as an early Christmas gift. I'm going to read it on the plane on Thursday.
December 5, 201510 yr From what I have heard, that will take up about 20 minutes. Way shorter than a New Yorker magazine article....
December 14, 201510 yr http://www.sanduskyregister.com/Local/2015/12/13/Kinzel-to-sign-copies-of-biography.html Kinzel will be making an appearance to sign copies of his book.
December 15, 201510 yr I got through about 40 pages before it became too dark on the plane to read. There are some interesting parts. I think it's worth a buy.
December 16, 201510 yr Note also Tom Jackson, who can't keep Cedar Point and Cedar Fair straight, refers to the new Gateway coaster. I'm just waiting for Thrill_Biscuit to create an image of Gatekeeper themed to Gateway computers... Um, okay, I'll gladly oblige; it's the holiday season, afterall!
December 17, 201510 yr This book sounds like an interesting read. And calling Gatekeeper Gateway? C'mon now... (Though TB's picture is pretty awesome- Gatekeeper, sponsered by Gateway) -MDMC, who once owned a Gateway 2000 computer from the 90's
December 17, 201510 yr I always loved the strange little noises Gateway computers (especially the 386's) made!
