Shout Out Some Good News about KI

Featured Replies

I'm surprised at how chiper and happy the crew at Planet Snooy can stay even after working with a countless number of impatient kids and unruly parents.

You should go to Holiday World ;)

giving a shout out to Park Services for fourth of july weekend. After back to back midnight closing the park still looked great in the morning.

Shout out to Lizzie at Firehawk, Donald at The Bat, and Bobby at Viking Fury. While waiting for the train to pull up, Lizzie talked to us about her co-workers (who also seemed nice) and how she does her job, which made me feel more comfortable about riding. Donald kept the wait for The Bat interesting by reacting and responding to the riders. For example, he asked "How was that ride?!?" and didn't get an answer. As they pulled up on the OTSRs, he said, "That ride was so exciting it left you all speechless." Bobby would have us do our best Viking impression while everybody was loading in. When the ship stopped swinging he would tell us to give the people waiting on the other side a different type of high-five each time including a fist bump, a viking high-five, and what I like to call a "out-of-this-world high-five". It was basically a regular high-five with us saying our favorite planet at the end.

... Should I have put this on "Interesting Things Ride OPs Do"?

If I had not read this thread I dont think I would have went to guest services and left a compliment for the girl working the Woodstock Gliders at Carowinds (she made a great ride even better with her enthusiasm:)

Also it annoys me when I get off a ride and nobody has any reaction

Big shout out to Emma at the Eiffel Tower! Amazing interaction with the guests always!

Mad props to the cleaning crew! KI gleems!

A note of recognition to whoever thought up the snake-in-a-snake mugs in the gift shops! Brilliant!

One, BIG happy smile and handshake for the crew at the Frozen Yogurt place! Their friendliness is genuine, and their love for their work shows!

I just want to mention how much I appreciate the change of when the National Anthem is sung in the mornings, from 10 to 9:30.

Last year, I often couldn't hear it or didn't even know it was happening until halfway through because I was in line or on a ride during ERT. Now, I can always hear it, and people are generally quiet and respectful, and we can even be sure to see a flag while it is going on.

I like the change as well and certainly makes more sense to do it right before guests are admitted through the gate.

This also brings up what we all know about how anyone can post something negative, whether accurate or not, and the internet community runs with it.  I remember seeing posts on the Kings Island Facebook page from folks complaining that the National Anthem isn't sung anymore and the negative posts about KI being unpatriotic, etc.  Even though KI itself replied to the post that it is sung at 9:30 everyday, trolls never read any of the comments and continued to bash for KI not performing the National Anthem.

I am certainly glad my job isn't in the media relations business because dealing with trolls and inaccurate information would make that job difficult - when to reply, when not to, how much do you engage in the discussion, etc.
