Roller Coaster Guilty Pleasures

Featured Replies

^I ride Vortex pretty similarly.  After the train crests the 2nd hill, my hands are firmly on the restraints until the MCBR due to how forceful it is.  I let my body go with the flow until after the batwing and then hold on again for the helix and for the brakes as they're now stacking more often and stopping on that first set of block brakes is a super hard stop.

If you want some nice visuals on Vortex, try to look to the side when you're on the loops and/or batwing and try to look down the corkscrews.  I also like to look straight up when Delirium is at full swing.

...most people... Smile. The whole concept of 'guilty pleasure' is tied up in liking a coaster you know you "shouldn't." For years, I knew, as an "enthusiast," I "shouldn't" like NJFTP. Therefore,

I wouldn't say I feel /guilty/ exactly but... My husband has told me "if I beat you up as much as The Beast, you'd leave me!" I do often get bruises, etc, but I just can't stop loving that ride!

  • I don't feel guilty about doing things I enjoy, certainly not riding roller coasters.  For instance, many claim that Gatekeeper is just totally boring and lame.  I enjoy it.  Because they don't, the l

I know Scrambler isn't a roller coaster, but I have a guilty pleasure on that ride, as I found out yesterday (June 5). Since I normally ride by myself (and in turn have the whole seat to myself), I have found it fun to try to slide back to the middle of my seat during the ride only to be "flung" to the side again. Boy, do I appreciate good ol' centripetal force or else rides like Scrambler wouldn't be as fun as they are meant to be! :P

...I have a huge appreciation for gravity.

Try going on Shooting Star, the one at Indiana Beach in particular. Get a bench to yourself, and enjoy !!

I've never been to Indiana Beach! I will have to try it sometime!

Woodstock Express! I love to watch the kids. I make sure to put my hands up and whoop!

My cousin who is a few years younger than I, and as just as short and skinny, once brainstormed we can be ride escorts for parents who couldn't fit the rides in Planet Snoopy.

I always have liked watching the young'ens faces after they've just got finished riding. especially their first time riding

something that is bigger than they've rode before.

I know for me, personally, I'd love to do it over again myself. But getting to do it with my kids and seeing their faces.

That is something I would not trade for anything in the world.

Oh, and my guilty pleasure? Mean Streak.

I know that thing is gonna beat me half to death. But i'll ride it 3 or 4 time in a row.

Basically till I'm beat into submission.

That is one I'm actually excited for when I go in a few days. I'm gonna have to have my dad sit out on it though.

I wouldn't sit OUT ON that thing.

Far better to sit on a bench on the midway

I'm actually really excited to go on this and Magnum XL-200, just behind Maverick and Millennium Force.

The bench by Mean Streak is my #2 bench, just behind Cowboy Joe's bench at Kennywood. It could be #1, but it needs retracked pretty badly. Hopefully they bring in RMC.

Although I've only rode it once, I'll consider Firehawk as my guilty pleasure. Even when we were looking up at the sky, I STILL felt like I was going to fall out, and yet, I would gladly ride again. But, holy CRAP is that first turnover is the scariest thing EVER! (No, I haven't rode a giga or hyper yet.)
