April 16, 201511 yr The title says it all. When I was a kid, there was no such thing. I was wondering when they came about. Thanks!
April 16, 201511 yr I know I had one starting around 1992. I'm not sure when they were introduced, though.
April 16, 201511 yr I'm guessing 25+ years ago. I remember being a kid of 12 or so talking to another kid (a year or two older) in line for a ride and he told me he had a season pass and that the park was basically hit day care while his parents worked. I was so jealous of that kid
April 16, 201511 yr A Kings Island season pass was one of the prizes offered by an organization I visited in the summer of 1984. That's as far back as I can remember hearing the term "season pass," and I didn't believe other kids who spoke of their existence at the time ("Oh, come on! Visiting Kings Island as many times as you want for only $44? No way!") Then I saw one, and was like, "wow!"
April 16, 201511 yr Didn't they offer lifetime passes for those who were stuck when the Skyride stranded riders? I would think some sort of season pass system was in place then...
April 16, 201511 yr Didn't they offer lifetime passes for those who were stuck when the Skyride stranded riders? I would think some sort of season pass system was in place then... I wonder if they're still valid...That would be hilarious to find out.
April 16, 201511 yr If lifetime means lifetime and those were truly offered, then probably so. Disney will still accept a ticket that was originally bought with the no expiration option from however many years back. That option is no longer available on all tickets purchased as of March.
April 17, 201511 yr True, but through the change of ownership the park has had since that incident, I wonder if the park knows what a valid lifetime pass even looks like, or even who they're registered too.
April 17, 201511 yr The first year that Kings Island offered Season Passes was 1979 - the year that The Beast was unleashed.
April 17, 201511 yr ^Out of curiosity, do you know happen to know how much they cost that first year?
April 17, 201511 yr ^Out of curiosity, do you know happen to know how much they cost that first year? I don't know for sure. I know the park resisted the idea of season passes for several years before caving in 1979. I don't think they made them cheap (to that year's standards.)
