December 22, 201411 yr If you could change Kings Island's Eiffel Tower another color what would it be? Or if you would like to keep it the same color teal? Not many people know that the one in Paris, France has changed colors a few times, it has been painted red, yellow and orange. before its new shade Eiffel Tower brown in 1968.
December 22, 201411 yr You mean from hunter green. Hunter green is a darker than olive drab shade of green. For many years, Sherwin Williams sponsored the tower and subsidized the painting.
December 22, 201411 yr Are we to assume that avoiding the real Eiffel Tower's colors (dark red-brown) is to help keep Kings Island's tower pronounced against the skyline? Or was the original green and subsequent blue just an artistic choice that's set the tower on a unique path for color choices?
December 22, 201411 yr I assumed the current color was meant to suggest the color when bronze or copper "rusts" (verdigris). It's the color many outdoor statues take on naturally (see Liberty in NYNY).
December 22, 201411 yr I like it as is but as long as it had a natural color look to it like it's original green or a brownish/red color like the one in Paris I'd be fine with it. Think the green/blue looks better for in a park though. Anything bright like yellow or orange or really vibrant like purple would be strange looking
December 22, 201411 yr The half size replica at Paris Casino in Las Vegas is bronze colored... Some would call it gold.
December 23, 201411 yr I'm biased since I've only ever known the tower with the current color, but I really, really like the teal. I'm not saying other colors couldn't look as good or better, but the current shade of teal is a color I instantly associate with Kings Island in all the forms I've known it. And I think it's just a pretty color, too.
December 23, 201411 yr The other options were looking a little lonely, so I voted orange just to be different. In reality, hunter green would rock.
December 23, 201411 yr I like the olive green a lot, like Terp said. I never knew our Eiffel Tower was painted a darker green than it is now (The nickname for the teal color on the Tower is "Eiffel Green"), but while watching "Rollercoaster" from 1977, Kings Dominion's Eiffel Tower seemed to have a darker hue to it. Anything else would make it seem less like the Eiffel Tower.
December 23, 201411 yr I assumed the current color was meant to suggest the color when bronze or copper "rusts" (verdigris). It's the color many outdoor statues take on naturally (see Liberty in NYNY). That's what I had assumed too. What year did they make the change from hunter green to the current color?
December 26, 201411 yr Keep it the same, and in the words of Ren and Stimpy "Happy Happy, Joy Joy!" Merry Christmas everyone!
December 31, 201411 yr I also think the current color resembles weathered copper, and actually recently wondered if the tower would ever be painted darker (as part of a possible International Street/Royal Fountain updating). My perception is that Kings Island goes above and beyond the minimum when adding attractions, so I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility.
