Rain has stopped. Crowds are light at this point. Yes, we are back.

I remembered today, as I was eating it, I'm not really that fond of LaRosa's pizza.

The blue ice cream has been lovely as always, though. I actually prefer the smaller towers of soft serve today, especially after the avalanche of Banshee Twist I experienced on my first lick last time I got one (on a 90-degree+ day). Learn from my mistake: when it's really hot ask for a dish rather than a cone.

I won three little superhero monkeys at the Plate Break game ($1/ball today) If I continued winning at the same rate I could win that giant Wonder Woman banana I've had my eye on all summer, for less than $20. In the continuing war of the giant stuffed animals, my husband has suggested I don't try for the banana.

All in all, I've been enjoying my first Dollar Days. It's really not that busy so far. I've spent about as much money so far as on my highest spending days of the summer but feel like I've gotten much better value. They finally had fudge push ups too, they've been gone my last three visits. Yummy!

I was at KI yesterday with my sister and her kids. This is the third Dollar Days I've been to. The park didn't seem busier than any other Saturday. There were some long lines - like 10 plus in each line - for hot dogs, ice cream and pizza. I was impressed with how quickly and efficiently everything moved. All the team I came in contact with related to dollar day deals were friendly. Not sure if my smile, please, and thank you helped that along. My niece and younger nephew really enjoyed the frozen lemonade and watermelon. I appreciated the increase in offerings!

Here's the way I look at this weekend. The lines may be a bit longer and the park may have more people than I'm used to from my normal Sunday/weekday visits. However, being on a tight budget, this weekend allows my sister the ability to treat her kids to something that she can't do - as much pizza/hot dogs as they want, instead of a lunchable and chips from the car. They get ice cream and lemonade and can try a few games. They don't have to share a meal or ice cream. She can come with $25 and have money left over.

We had a moment of panic when I realized that she lost the wallet with her cash in it. Thankfully, I had the case with our passes and my credit card but she must have left it behind when she bought something while I was getting my meal plan lunch. After a long wait at the season pass/lost & found window with one person manning both windows, we found someone had turned it in - with all the money ($18 and change) inside. Talk about saving the day! Thank you to the guest or team member that turned it in!

By the time we left around 7, we were a bit wet from the rain. The kids had a great time, she had fun, and it was great to see their excitement. The kids don't care about lines and it teaches them much needed patience. On the drive to their home, I asked what their favorite part was and they said everything. How can I complain about that response?

Enjoyed Dollar Days today. Maybe about a 5 minute line for Banshee ice cream and it was really good! The rain probably held off most of the holiday weekend crowd. I am glad that it wasn't as crazy as I, and some others on the site, thought it might be.

Although there was a minor who asked my buddy to buy her a Mikes Hard Lemonade while in line at the LaRosas. He didn't, but it made me think of all the funny people-watching that was brought up on this thread.

Line at Chicken Shack is not bad at all watched a couple of people get mad that the chicken was not a dollar

So from my dad's days of being a manager I learned that a good manager will do what he/she expects the employee to do (cleaning etc).

I was impressed at many of the booths I saw managers and higher ups working along side hourlies doing everything from cleaning to making meals.

I even saw our own Don wrapping hot dogs. There is a significantly different feel at the park this year. It's refreshing to be honest.

So from my dad's days of being a manager I learned that a good manager will do what he/she expects the employee to do (cleaning etc).

Many of my visits to the park are early in the season and late in the season and Don doing that is nothing that he hasn't done before. Last year he did the hot dog thing, worked The Beast, and he and Greg were collecting parking money two years ago - and these are just events I have witnessed and remember. I seem to recall seeing him picking up trash and others things. All part of the job in a seasonal environment when the majority of employees are off in school.

Either last season or 2 seasons ago I saw Don helping put together the baggies for the trick or treators for the Trick or Treating with Dinos.
