January 5, 201412 yr I searched for a similar topic and didn't see anything so hopefully this hasn't been done before. Do you prefer Vekoma flyers like Firehawk or do you prefer B&M flyers? I actually prefer Firehawk over Superman since I hate that intense pressure in my chest during the pretzel loop of B&Ms. Even though Firehawk does something similar with its vertical loop, the forces aren't as intense and it's really fun. Plus I like how you feel like you're going to fall out of Firehawk--it adds to the excitement of the ride. I also love the flip at the top of the lift hill. It's a cool surprise and suddenly you find yourself flying toward the ground. I've never been on a B&M flyer besides the Superman ones and I've heard Tatsu is awesome. But as of now, Firehawk wins this poll for me.
January 5, 201412 yr I'm not much of a flyer fan but when I do I prefer B&M Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I547 using Tapatalk
January 5, 201412 yr Tatsu>Vekoma Flying Dutchmen>Supermen: Ultimate Flight>Zamperla Flying Coasters: Ultimate Pain.
January 5, 201412 yr Author I really want to try Tatsu. I've heard nothing but great things about it.
January 5, 201412 yr not really a flyer fan, given the fact that they are uncomfortable, but at least with vekoma I'm on my back for the chain hill lift, its not as uncomfortable then. unless the sun is in your eyes.
January 5, 201412 yr I prefer B&M Flyers over Vekoma's. And I really prefer them over Zamperla. Vekoma's to me are not comfortable as well as Zamperla.
January 5, 201412 yr B&M flyers are nice in terms of overall satisfaction. I don't understand the general discomfort people feel from Vekoma Dutchmans, I actually think they're cozy. The rides themselves aren't smooth yes, but restraint wise I have no problems. Be happy we don't have a Zamperla...Look at TR:TR @ CW, or now it's know as Time Zone or something...That ride just, it's bad..
January 5, 201412 yr Apart from the pretzel loop, there is nothing about the Supermen that I like. At least Firehawk is a little more comfortable and actually has some variety in the layout. I have fun when I ride Firehawk, but I just find myself waiting for the ride to end on Superman.
January 5, 201412 yr I haven't been on a B&M flyer, I can just hope CP/KI gets one sometime after 2019.
January 5, 201412 yr I've ridden both Superman (at SFGAmerica) and Firehawk and I'd have say that I like Firehawk more, only because I've ridden it the most (it's been about 5-6 years since I rode Superman that one time) and lately it's been a really fun ride.
January 5, 201412 yr I've only ridden Firehawk and Manta. I found Manta to be far more comfortable and fun than Firehawk.
January 5, 201412 yr There's nothing quite as bad as the Zamperla flyers... I've had the misfortune of riding the one at Elitch Gardens (very creatively named "The Flying Coaster") and the one at Canada's Wonderland... both were absolutely awful.
January 5, 201412 yr I've been on several...hoping for each to be better than the last I rode....well...that makes me an idiot! Lol! I will say the one at Coney Island in NYC isn't all that bad (disclaimer, I may or may not have been exhausted so everything at that point hurt so all pain felt like the normal lol).
January 6, 201412 yr whats the hourly capacity for a b&m flyer? I know Firehawk is slow but I like it. never been on a b&m flyer
January 6, 201412 yr For the stated theoretical I don't think they adjusted it however with the station delays & stuff...Remember the seats were originally supposed to rise as it parked in the station, not after full stop. I forget why it never happened at Geauga Lake, ah well.. But regardless it's slow as hell haha
January 6, 201412 yr I've only ridden three flyers, Stealth at Paramount's Great America during its opening year, Firehawk and Superman - Ultimate Flight at SFGAdv. Out of those, I definitely prefer the Vekomas over the B&M.
January 6, 201412 yr There is nothing remotely comfortable about the restraints. And the transitions? TOGO standups and Anaconda are smooth as glass by comparison.
January 6, 201412 yr Firehawk is the only flyer I've been on, but I love the flip over at the top so would miss that element on a B&M flyer. Though some of them like Manta do look great still.
January 6, 201412 yr Also Firehawk (X Flight) originally had three trains that could help alleviate station stacking.
January 6, 201412 yr whats the hourly capacity for a b&m flyer? I know Firehawk is slow but I like it. never been on a b&m flyer I was in line for Superman and with no switchbacks open I waited 70 minutes.
January 6, 201412 yr Where? How many people were in front of you? I've seen days at Great Advencha where a non-Flash Pass wait of 70 minutes for Superman: Ultimate Flight would be nothing short of a miracle.
January 6, 201412 yr Author When I went on Superman at Great Advencha I only waited about 20 minutes.
January 6, 201412 yr It was at Great America. The line didn't look long at all. It was maybe 400 people or so if I had to guess.
