September 13, 201312 yr Back then yes, those auto spiels were pretty cool But we don't have those...Like I said if they are all quiet, no spiels...ok...I can deal with it, would I rather have them, yes, but if not, oh well. But when they do have them, it's a joke, and they suck...very few are shining examples...
September 13, 201312 yr Blech. Terp--there's an example of a shining spiel. Oh, for the sounds of safety...and otherwise...silence. I didn't come to the park to have my visit interrupted by a would be comedian who is supposed to be primarily concerned with my safety.
September 13, 201312 yr Safety was first...spiel was always second..plus when you do it every day for 10 hours a day for a whole season..it all becomes muscle memory. I even spieled the wrong spiel at other rides on accident because it's that much in tune with your memory
September 14, 201312 yr Before Cedar Fair took over you would never hear pre-ride schtick at ki. The ultimate schtick crew to me has always been the Raptor crew-always loved their wild and craziness-I get the impression that the Raptor crew has had the greatest influence on the spiels that you hear today at both KI and CP.
September 14, 201312 yr The hardest part of being a ride op would be from boredom with repetitiveness and those awful spiels. That's when ops begin to lose focus and slack and mistakes begin to happen, safety is number one priority but you have to have fun.. Trust me you get a lot of those ops who are bored and don't care. I personally wish that we had pre-recorded messages. Guests tend to pay attention to repetition especially if it is the same recording.
