Biggest Announcement in Dollywood History

Featured Replies

I will, I'm just going to Guam for 2/4 years :P

Should only have to worry about: Jellyfish, snakes, natural predators, pacific disease, Korea (the crazy one), undertow...man that is alot to worry about :P

Thanks again btw, I know I do, not sure if other servicemembers still get it, but I still always get goosebumps when people thank me for serving and stuff, so thanks again

For those disappointed with the perceived thrill level of the new coaster: You are not the target market. Dollywood is not Cedar Point.

  • I'm going to guess that the name will be the Double D Express....

sunburn, don't forget about sunburn, oh and sun poisoning. then there's that former congressman who's afraid guam might tip over and sink into the ocean.

Lots and lots to worry about :0

thanks for your service, enjoy your stay.

Thanks for Serving our country! :)

Dollywood is getting WindSeeker from??? (which ever park is tired of theirs breaking down) Just kidding guys.

I vote for another wooden coaster

If they get an invert, then a giga, then some sort of launch coaster in the next decade or so...that place would have some diverse coasters. I really enjoyed my time there in April. A few more coasters and that would be one terrific, destination park.

2014 going be a big year. Kentucky Kingdom, Banshee, Cedar Point, and Dollywood...im going be broke next year. :-)

Lol I'm getting hyped for stuff next year and I won't even be stateside I'll be over in the pacific by this time on a 20 mile island xD

That's better than a Three Mile Island! Not sure if it's as good as Thousand Island though...

-Gator, hoping no one has a meltdown about how I'm a dressing the topic.

I was actually thinking of taking a trip to Dollywood in November...possibly....I see they are open during November/December at times. I might wait if this announcement turns into something of my liking....

You'll miss a very special time at Dollywood if you don't go for Smoky Mountain Christmas. And, if it's like in years past, you can buy a season pass then, get in the park this year and next.

Well would you look at that. Right in the middle of my first day of school. At least I'll have something to look forward to that day.

Same. I know what I'll be doing during lunch...

I'm so glad I can use a cell phone (limitedly) at my school. How else could I get through my day when there's an amusement park announcement going on? ;)

im thinking a pony express style coaster

i like the name, super gold season passes

The announcement is tomorrow.

I blame the GOCC Facebook page for giving me the wrong date and time. :P

My guess is a Mack Manta like coaster or perhaps the suspended powered coaster that they have yet to open one of. Since Dollywood likes to be unique I wouldn't be surprised if it was the latter. But the biggest part of the announcement should be the resort and look what I found.

Dollywood's DreamMore Resort... That's a name trademarked recently. Not sure if the link will work but here it is. http://tess2.uspto.gov/bin/showfield?f=doc&state=4805:gun4k.7.1

edit to add that going to

www.dreammoreresort.com takes you to an error on Dollywoods website. While going to

www.dreammore.com takes you to a blog.

$300 million in improvements over the next 10 years. New Family Coaster next year that elementary school kids can ride called Fire Chaser Express. 300 room hotel opening in 2015.

The Coaster is a Gerstlauer with a forward and backwards launch. 39" height requirement. 2447 Feet length. 750PPH Capacity

Forward launch is 16mph and backward is 20mph, with a ride top speed of 34.5 mph. Two helices, trick track section and 6 zero G moments.

Yes. I was there in June and the park was PACKED. Not to mention they have a pretty long season.

The resort will have its own Pool Complex, Restaurant, etc. Dollywood is located in a HUGE tourist area. This resort will get plenty of visitors, even if the park doesn't.

I'll be honest...that is a little dissapointing to me too. I think that they already have PLENTY of family rides in that park, with a children's area that rivals Kings Island in terms of rides.

Blazing Fury is already a coaster that children can ride, and from the looks of things...will be as much fun as this.

Oh well, I don't have to find my way there every year I guess.

Dolly just looks...ew lol

Saw that pic and just...no haha

I'm a bit disappointed, however this still is good for the park, we just got WE not too long ago, give it time and I'm sure we'll get something new and exciting again

The thing that sticks out to me the most from this announcement is $300M in investments over the next 10 years. That is a lot of money for new projects.
