July 29, 201313 yr Sorry but I don't buy much from this guy considering this is the same guy that during my early time with this forum shot me down about looking at the footers for clues in which manufacturer, which he basically shot down as a bunch of bs from me, explained my case, and shut it up. Now look several months later, everyone is looking at the footers and their similar correlation with other B&M footers that have been poured in the past...Call me out for stuff that is actually wrong, but these things can happen in this scenario...and has happened, and always will happen...saying arrow polyurethane or nylon wheels don't wear and become defective with flat spots is ridiculous, because again, it can, will and has happened...
July 29, 201313 yr Still puts me more in touch than an enthusiast. I've worked them, helped repair them, and been involved with an arrow looper more than practically everyone here... Thats cute.
July 29, 201313 yr But not one kinda guy.... LOL, I think someone needs to put the puzzle pieces together starting from A to Z!
July 29, 201313 yr Author For the longest time, I thought the AZ stood for Arizona. Honest. I always thought it was "Action Zone"...
July 30, 201313 yr Did you guys know that the same people who made Vortex track makes b&m tracks because b&m was impressed by there work on the steel track on Vortex
July 30, 201313 yr Did you guys know that the same people who made Vortex track makes b&m tracks because b&m was impressed by there work on the steel track on Vortex I didn't know that. You learn something new every day! thanks for sharing!
August 1, 201313 yr I think that all The Vortex needs is new wheels and padded restraints and it would be fine! Or no change because the shakiness adds airtime.

I was on Flight of Fear with jcgoble3 while everyone else was in line for Vortex. If I remember correctly, someone told me that Vortex got held up due to a wheel being replaced.

Yes, I remember that too. (For once, my memory works! )

Yes, I remember that too. (For once, my memory works! ) Yes, but you decided to get out of line and ride FOF. The rest of us waited it out (about 15 min) and then got right on!
August 6, 201313 yr ^ He and homestar92 did manage to get on Vortex at the same time as us, though. They used a front-of-the-line pass to skip the ~10 minute line, after using another front-of-the-line pass to skip Flight of Fear's obnoxiously long line.
August 6, 201313 yr Wish I could have taken a look at that wheel before it got swapped out...While on the brake run of beast, that just sounded...nasty
August 9, 201313 yr Only if S&S does not have a problem with it. Vortex KI is in Ohio, where ride operators MUST follow manufacturers' recommendations in order for a ride to be licensed.
August 10, 201313 yr I wouldn't mind seeing b&m make new trains for Vortex, they would probably look like the ones on steel dragon, except with over the shoulders restraints like Gatekeeper or Banshee.
August 10, 201313 yr I wouldn't mind seeing b&m make new trains for Vortex, they would probably look like the ones on steel dragon, except with over the shoulders restraints like Gatekeeper or Banshee. They have done it before on a ride in Kennywood...
August 10, 201313 yr Except who is now the maufacturer? That's not as easy a question as you might think.
August 10, 201313 yr Author Except who is now the maufacturer? That's not as easy a question as you might think. The trains have Arrow chassis, and the brake run, station, and lift hill are Arrow. Which means all moving parts are Arrow. So in theory, for maintenance purposes, I would assume it is treated as an Arrow. Being that it isn't in Ohio, it isn't nearly as relevant as it would be here anyway.
August 10, 201313 yr It certainly looks interesting.... I am one of those that finds Vortex rough, but HAVE learned 5-1 gives a pretty smooth ride I guess I would have to ride a roller coaster very similar to Vortex with those Vekoma trains on them to see how it changes the roughness of the ride
October 1, 20187 yr I'd be open to new trains as well as a track repaint. It would be cool if the spine and the rails were both a dark orange to complement the blue supports which would pay homage to FC Cincinnati.
