July 25, 201313 yr I haven't seen a poll on this yet so I figured I'd find out what coaster people like best.
July 25, 201313 yr Diamondback for steel, The Beast for wood. I don't even attempt to compare steel coasters to wood ones because they're totally different animals.
July 25, 201313 yr Diamondback, just cause it's awesome. But The Beast is awesome in a completely different way. They're uncomparable, and I love them both, so for me the winner is Diamondback--but my favorite could change depending on the day. Sometimes I feel like The Beast is better, other times I think Diamondback is better...They're both so different.
July 25, 201313 yr While my vote obviously goes for Beast, I really think Diamondback was a great addition to the park, and compliments The Beast well in being so different. For some examples... Easily Visible? Diamondback: Yes, looms over most of Rivertown and can be clearly seen from all over the park and from the parking lot, as if it is begging for attention The Beast: Not really, it "hides" in the woods, so you have to ride it to see most of it. Even riding Vortex or WindSeeker, two large rides nearby, only reveals a little bit. Airtime?Diamondback: Diamondback was literally born for it- heaps of floater air (sometimes even ejector) over every hill! The Beast: One pop on the second drop, if you're lucky. Style of Layout?Diamondback: Pretty par-for-the-course for a modern B&M Hypercoaster, the splashdown being the only element really never seen before. The Beast: Unlike any other wooden roller coaster ever built, mainly due to its long sections of straight track and huge turns. Smoothness?Diamondback: Some rattling, but meant to be smooth. The Beast: Not horribly rough for a wooden coaster...but it is still 100% a wooden coaster so there is plenty of shaking and rumbling! Tunnels?Diamondback: What are tunnels? The Beast: 4. Finale?Diamondback: Splashdown into water visible to everyone in the area. The Beast: Insane helix tunnel visible to only its riders, and maybe people on Vortex & WindSeeker. Interaction with woods?Diamondback: Not really, you're always so high above the treeline... The Beast: Plenty. Type of Coaster?Diamondback: Steel. The Beast: Wood. Type of Animal Logo is depicting?Diamondback: A Diamondback snake, a reptile. The Beast: Unknown, but it has fur, so it's likely a mammal. I see them as Ying-and-Yang for these and some other reasons. So different, yet generally both end up getting so much love from guests...
July 25, 201313 yr If I could only ride one coaster per visit, it would always be a toss-up between Diamondback and The Beast. Once in a blue moon; I would switch it up with Invertigo.
July 25, 201313 yr Favorite wooden: The Beast Favorite steel: Its hard to decide because I love all of KI's steel coasters about the same....but if you made me choose only one.....I'd have to say.... Flight of Fear. (It usually to takes me to the Outer Limits)
July 25, 201313 yr This has been discussed ad nauseum, but I'll still answer anyways. Adventure Express.
July 25, 201313 yr Vortex is my favorite. I'm a big fan of inversions! (and insane ejector air on the first drop when riding in the back seat!) <3
July 25, 201313 yr As TheCrypt said, even though this poll has been made plenty of times, I don't feel like being mean today so: Flight of Fear. It's a very underrated ride IMO and is even better than Diamondback and The Beast.
July 25, 201313 yr I had to pick Diamondback for my favorite coaster at Kings Island, because of the speed and airtime. The Beast is my second favorite at Kings Island. They are very different rides, so I can not compare them. The Beast is my favorite Wooden coaster and Diamondback is my favorite Steel coaster.(Yes I've been to Holiday World and Cedar Point)
July 25, 201313 yr I picked Invertigo because it's awesome! But seriously, though, it's my favorite coaster in the park because of the steep drop and the high speed at which it goes through the course. However, I only try to ride in the front or back because I think it's very awkward looking at someone the entire ride.
August 11, 201313 yr My favorite coaster at King Island is Diamondback but that is pretty much tied with The Beast. They are just great fun coasters.
August 11, 201313 yr My favorites are Diamondback and The Beast. I have a feeling Banshee will join those 2 next year as well.
August 11, 201313 yr That has been thoroughly debated on this site. Reference here to read into it if you want to: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/23549-should-surf-dog-be-considered-a-coaster/?hl=%2Bshould+%2Bsurf+%2Bconsidered+%2Bcoaster
August 11, 201313 yr And the park says it is. They claim Racer as one. It all balances out in my mind.
August 11, 201313 yr Definitively Diamondback. It's just so peaceful and relaxing to me, and I love airtime coasters.
August 11, 201313 yr Just based on the animation and layout, I'm gonna predict that Banshee with be my 3rd favorite coaster at KI behind Diamondback and The Beast. I could be wrong, but I have a feeling this is where it will end up in my rankings.
August 12, 201313 yr Great Pumpkin Coaster, first ride with both my daughters. 2 year old next to me and 4 year old sitting behind us. I can see the picture I bought from where I sit, my 2 year old is gripping tight smiling while the 4 year old has her hands in the air laughing. My favorite KI memory to date.
