Sorry if this is a gross discussion but I am curious. As I stated in my Dollywood trip report, I noticed a foul stench on the restraints of Wild Eagle and Thunderhead which was the result of people's sweat-I think I may have noticed this on the lap bars of some of the coasters at KI. Do the ride operators regularly disinfect the rides? This is not in any way a complaint as I have noticed this on rare occasions at the park-it is not a consistent problem.

I seem to notice it on Vortex's restraints more than any other ride.

I've thought about bringing along some Clorox wipes because of this.

Every morning at CP, we would spray all the restraints down with our chemicals, dunno about KI, I would think they do, however I will follow up to see. I will say through the day when it's hot as hell, you can't really get over it when you have some people sitting in those seats

Imagine how much stacking there would be if everyone had to wipe down their seat before getting in!

I just wear a ton of deodorant and bring some into the park just in case it wears off.

I have never noticed this, but I'm sure I will now! Thanks a lot. I always load up on the deodorant and a shot of cologne so maybe that's why I never smell the restraints? I have smelled some rather funky people standing in lines before, nasty!

A lot of people don't put hygiene high on their list of priorities. Who knows why, aside from them.

I dont think that has much to do with it honestly. You can have the best hygiene in the world, But after walking around Kings Island in 90 plus degree temps with 80% Humidity, even the cleanest person in the world Gonna be Stinky!

In 2010, we did wipe down the seats and restraints every morning with sanitizing chemicals. Later on in the day is a bit too hard to do that, unless there was a storm and we had to shut down. I don't know how they're doing it now though.

Just think they are more then just sweat on those restraints not trying to be nasty, but think about the number of people who don't wash there hands after using the bathroom, even after #2.

Well one patient tofay for example. bariatric female w/ c/x of atyp cp, unable to walk or move well, prior smoker copd, ect...basically you could see on her skin during the ekg, and just smell, that no bath or shower had taken place in quite some time...

I try really hard not to think about it but I agree with Jr for Birdy. My concern is more with stanky folks in line and not the smell of the restraints. I mean the smell of the restraint will last a max of 4 minutes while waiting in line with a stanky person could be up to 2 hours if the line is that long!!!LOL!

Ick I don't get it. I mean after walking around a park all day in hot weather you can't help to be sweaty, but not to take a shower just because is just wrong!

I take a bottle of Bod man and spray on people that stink.

Don't forget that during these hot, humid days, people perspire a lot and sweating is the body's way of cooling its body temperature. Granted there are some people that do not have the best hygiene, but that would be a very small portion of the guests at the park. But when you have people riding rides with the restraints tightly against their body, there is bound to be some transfer of perspiration due to the large number of guests that ride.

Nothing smells quite as awful as Nighthawk's restraints at Carowinds. Nasty!

The park tries to keep them clean, but it's a losing battle.

After seeing a lady get strapped into a Maverick restraint that was wet with a viscous bodily fluid, sweat is the least of my concerns.

About cleaning at Mantis... don't be in line while they're hosing off a protein spill. You may get wet.

A group of people were seemingly enjoying the water falling from above last week, until I freaked them out by informing them of the source.

And don't try to take pictures of clean up efforts on Maverick. I saw a guest who at first refused to stop doing so almost get ejected from the park. He came thaaaat close.

Anyone ignoring instructions from a ride operator on a ride platform should be ejected, or worse.
