June 25, 201313 yr I am planing to go the King island in the 4th. Its on a thursday, will it be very crowded? has anybody went on the 4th and could tell me? Thanks guys!!
June 25, 201313 yr Probably not in the morning as most people will be occupied by parades but I would think as the day progresses it will become more and more crowded.
June 25, 201313 yr The 4th of July is known to be an extremely busy day. Most people have the day off of work and I've seen the parking lot completely full on this day.
June 25, 201313 yr Does anyone know if the park is doing any special activities or having an extended fireworks display that night?
June 25, 201313 yr ^ Information on fireworks that night is on the park's special events page: https://www.visitkingsisland.com/things-to-do/special-events Given the crowds and the distance, I won't be there on the 4th. Any Columbus-based members of this forum going downtown on the 3rd?
June 25, 201313 yr I have been on the Fourth of July to Kings Island on several occasions. It is an EXTREMELY crowded day. While the crowds are lighter in the morning, it is still a lot of people. Do you get many other chances to visit? Do you want to ride a lot? If you answered no to the first and yes to the second, I recommend Fast Lane.
June 25, 201313 yr No offense, but did you expect the 4th of July at an amusement park to be not crowded? It will be insanely crowded.
June 25, 201313 yr I'd advise not to go unless you really want to. S.O.B. who will be eating some beans and franks at his grandma's house
June 25, 201313 yr No offense, but did you expect the 4th of July at an amusement park to be not crowded? It will be insanely crowded. I know you said no offense but maybe they just didn't know. I have never been on Father's Day and I assumed that it wouldn't be crowded because people would be taking dad to dinner or movie. Yet a couple of my friends went this year and said it was probably the most packed day they have ever seen at KI. On par with the final 2-3 HH Saturday nights.

Independence Day. A major holiday. In the middle of the summer.
June 25, 201313 yr The Bring a Friend deal was also usually only for one 9.99 ticket per pass , this year a pass holder could have brought up to 4 friends with the special 9.99 price per ticket. I'm sure that's one of the reason's the park was so packed on fathers day!
June 25, 201313 yr In the middle of summer. Perhaps the OP thought because of the heat, fewer people would show up. A valid reason in my book.
June 25, 201313 yr Yes it's very crowded on the 4th. I recommend Strickers Grove. It's one of the few days its open to the public. Also Father's Day has bring upto 4 people for $9.99 each going on so yeah it's packed then too. PkiVortex beat me to it.
June 25, 201313 yr Author I assume its going to be crowded, just double checking with ppl who may have been there on the 4th. With cookouts, summer heat and other places to watch fireworks.Maybe nobody would go with the same thinking that it would be bad crowded. I have no idea if it really does get crowded, just wanted you guys input on it. Thanks for the info
June 25, 201313 yr I was there last year. The dry park was not very crowded during the day. Soak City was slammed. Once Soak City closed, the dry park became slammed.
June 25, 201313 yr The thing to remember about Fathers Day, each pass holder could bring up to 4 people at $9.99 each. Say a family had 4 members with passes, they could bring in a total of 16 additional friends. That is why that day was packed. As for the Fourth of July, expect to have large crowds.

Ah thanks for that, I didn't know that they were running that promo either. Again I typically avoid summer days and holidays but again I would've thought it wouldnt be as packed because people wanted to do their own fireworks or have a family dinner out of town or something not related to a theme park. June 26, 201313 yr I went on the Fourth last year and was very happy I bought Fastlane! We could just ride whenever without waiting much in the heat of the day, and then around 7pm the dry park was packed so it was so much fun with that special bracelet. I really hope to make it this year but I'm pretty sure I will have to work, but my fingers are crossed!
June 26, 201313 yr How many people have visited the park during the week of the 4th of July...how are the crowds?
June 27, 201313 yr Haven't they done a "free admission for military families" that weekend? Considering Wright Patt is up the road, as well as many other military bases (small and large) in the area, I'd expect all weekend to be packed if they do that deal again. nevermind, here's the details, just the military personal get in free (active or retired) July 3-5: https://www.visitkingsisland.com/events/things-to-do/special-events/Tribute-to-the-Armed-Forces Seems like they forgot to update one portion from memorial day however.
June 27, 201313 yr So like this coming Monday, what do people think the crowds will be like? I'd guess that it would be no more than a typical Monday. KI is a two-day park at most, so it's highly unlikely people will take the whole week off to spend it at KI. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday will be the busiest days, with Wednesday significantly busier than a normal Wednesday due to the military deal. Monday and Tuesday are unlikely to be significantly affected. Or at least that's my guess.
June 27, 201313 yr the one caveat to that, is that most people have the 4th of July off, many will get the 5th off as well, on top of that, a good chunk will take monday, tuesday & wednesday off, along w/ their holiday days and make a week of it. I'd expect monday to be more crowded than a typical monday, but nothing like wednesday, thursday or friday will be.
June 27, 201313 yr All members of the military, both active and retired, members of the national guard, all veterans w/ honorable or medical discharge, members of the ROTC will be admitted free. They just need to show a valid ID or their DD-214 discharge form. My entire family has served, my father served in the Army in England during WWII, my sister served in the Army, where she met her husband as he was coming home from Vietnam. I served in the Army in 1974. This is a great way to honor all who have served our great country that we live in. But don't forget all the heroes that have given their all for our freedom. A big SALUTE to them all!
June 28, 201313 yr So many people are going there from my base that weekend lol...I've used my season pass going now it's already paid for itself. I'm ganna avoid this weekend possibly I think
June 28, 201313 yr I was there last year and it was really hot that day. The dry park wasn't horribly crowded until Soak City closed.
