I was able to use my 2011 KI cup at Carowinds in 2012. Of course, both the 2011 KI cups and the 2012 Carowinds cups were light blue WindSeeker cups, so that may have played a part.

Speaking of drinks...whats with the no beer while in line rule? With the way you guys describe the lines these days,sounds like thats the perfect place to have one. At BG here,you buy a beer at any number of stands,and take it wherever you want.

It's a close proximity thing. You have your own personal space and can stick to it outside of the line. You're forced to wait in very close proximity to other guests while in line, and not all guests appreciate being exposed to it. Add in that people who are loopy tend to be a little bit more unruly, you get into being run into, stepped on, drinks spilled on, fights breaking out, line jumping - and fights over that, etc that can happen. Therefore - no alcohol in lines at Kings Island...period. Halloween Haunt or not, rules are rules - and no none of them change.

Who wants to be in line beside someone drinking beer who can't stand the smell of alcohol? Also in a close, confined space, it could easily be spilled onto someone in line. Before it was modified again, you could only drink the beer where you bought it.

I think its odd that Tower Gardens is a smoking section? Why not make it a non-smoking section and run some water for a nice place to relax! Most of the smokers smoke wherever they darn well please anyways! That could be a great place to take a nap,read a book,etc.

It might be ridiculous to some, but that was exactly the way it was in the Paramount days. There were signs as you left each area where you bought the beverage that stated no alcoholic beverages were to be taken past that point.

I also have to point out there are also the idiots that want to leave it in the station while on the ride (where anyone can pick it up or knock it over) - and ride a ride which intoxicated people cannot ride (another issue). Whole series of battles are erased when not allowed to take alcohol in line.

And before that you could buy buckets of beer and carry them up to but not on the ride. Times change, no problem. At least it's better than KD where the Virginia laws force you to stay at the point of sale (the restaurant is the PoS, not the Park).

Now, if we could get those Carowinds souvenir cups that are refilled at 5.99... THAT would be kinda nice. We didn't see many drunks there, $6 is still steep enough.

Yeah....its 6.95 for a 16oz bottle of Bud Lime here at BG Tampa. They have alot of the beer stands by the ride entrances so you can enjoy it while waiting. Makes sense...especially in the FL heat. Plus makes waiting more bearable. At horror nights in Orlando, you get souvenir pint AND shot cups you can refill throughout the night...which you may drink in line.

Horror Nights gets a VERY different crowd than KI gets during its summer season.

Im just sayin that the argument that drinking in line causes fights,line jumping,etc, just diesnt hold water. These drinking policies have been in place here for many years. And with prices like these,youll go broke before you get drunk. Also,if someone still has a half cup of draught beer to leave at the station after standing in line for 2 hrs, that my friend, is what you call a drinking problem. :-)

So why, then, does Universal greatly increase security during HHN, and there are still many more alcohol related incidents? Alcohol availability IS a major factor, along with the demographics that availabilty helps to draw.

Even KI recognizes this, instituting a no-reentry policy during Haunt.

Even during a regular day at Universal,you may enjoy a drink in line. Busch Gardens is a family park. We have Seseme St land,and plenty of elephant dung for the whole family. And yet,Im able to enjoy a brew while in line. Its nice.

I'd have to know how we defined 'alcohol related incident' - does that mean that one party or the other had consumed alchohol? That's anecdotal - not causal - and may have zero relevance to what actually caused the incident. With respect to all, I agree that demographics play a part. The no re-entry policy is likely due to curb underage drinking in the parking lot, which is controlled very well at KI inside the park.

I'd love to be able to consume a beer in the line, but can accept that the rules don't currently permit it. KI has done a pretty good job of shading the waiting queues, so it's not unbearable. It might be in the interest of 'fairness' to the smokers, I dunno.
