The Beach vs. Soak City

Featured Replies

Well, to be honest, that is a question I will answer this summer. It will be a different question by the new Beach having new things.

I haven't been to The Beach in 6 or 7 years, but in terms of landscape and environment, The Beach wins hands down. Far less concrete, a lot more trees, real sand and generally a much more laid-back relaxing atmosphere. In terms of slides/rides, it's a tough call.

The Beach:

The Cliff

A racing slide which gives you airtime (that's right - airtime on a body slide...)

a water coaster

an enclosed dark tube ride

The Pearl (heated pool)

KI:

More options

Larger slides/rides

Two wave pools

Overall it really depends on what you're looking for. It's sort of like the difference between KI and Coney in some ways (or better yet, a large park like KI and a small family-owned park like Beech Bend, Camden, etc.)

Isn't it a bit early for this poll, considering neither of the two parks have even opened yet?

To me, it's hard to decide.

The Beach has better slides like Aztec Adventure, The Cliff, and Banzai Blast (forgot what it was originally called). The only slide I actually like at Soak City is Mondo Monsoon.

On the other hand, Soak City is more colorful and "fun". There is more to do besides slides, like the two wave pools, the action river, three kid's play areas, etc.

The Beach, though, was very dirty and old when I went, so Soak City gets the vote by far. This year, I think, The Beach will be better.

I hope that the new owners have given the beach some tlc, last time i went it was definitely looking worn down. Most rides gel coat was so faded or worn off. Its likely i may goto the beach once this year, but with season passes i will be at Soak City more.

I agree that Soak City is spread out, but the high tension lines restrict anything below them. Most of Soak City was re-painted or updated last spring. I would love to see a master blaster ride in the front wedge between the parking lot and the new wave pool, or behind splash landing and toward zoom flume.

I would also be cool if they would convert thunder falls into a tube chute that let you just float into the action river, like those at GWL. Possibly put a different tube ride that did the same. Schlitterbahn has mastered that and it makes it nicer to be able to float over to an exit near your spot.

Not a huge waterpark guy, I love swimming, but i'd rather be on a roller coaster. Soak City I'd say though, since I was more of a surf cincinnati kind of kid growing up.
