X Base

Featured Replies

I've been to Kings Island for many years and I have to fav sections: Rivertown and Coney Mall. I love Coney Mall mostly for X-base. I know Dinosaurs Alive is right next to Firehawk but is there a chance to expand to make it its own section or will it stay a dead end subsection of Coney Mall? I apologize if there is a similar thread.

WIth Son of Beast gone, they have a lot more room to work with if they were to decide to potentially expand X-Base. Whether or not that is how they choose to utilize the land remains to be seen, but Son of Beast's deconstruction does make it possible.

I think with the extra room that is going to be created with SOB coming down, it might even be a wise idea to give the park another path to connect Action Zone to Xbase to Coney Mall while expanding the park with some more rides around the area between Firehawk/FoF and the old SOB site. We'll see what happens in the coming months though, I hope.

Does the future seem bright for X Base? Mr. Ouimet said that theming wasn't really a priority for the park like it was with Paramount or Disney. That being said, do you think Cedar Fair will expand and keep up the X Base theme or just leave it a bathroom-less, deadend, subsection with two great coasters?

^Yep. It just seems weird for X-Base to have its own sign yet it's considered a part of Coney Mall.

I still wish they offered helicopter rides over there. I thought that was really unique when they did that back in the day. Then again the area wasn't known as X Base and only had FoF over there, but I just remember how cool it was to have the opportunity to ride in a helicopter over the park.

While walking through X-Base on my last visit, I actually believe it can be ran back up into a nice place. The only minor technical thing I only wish could come would be people in FBI like clothing, to make it feel like I am actually in a secret base. I see how the X ( I wonder why is it called X-Base? I love the older Sci-Fi...) could be expanded, but that is still a 50-50 shot for me personally. I just really want a new attraction to come to the land for AZ, or X, because, if you think of it... Investigation of the premises, possibly by the Bureau?

BB1 wanting to be a X-Base secret agent....

I still laugh when I see the Hangar 18 over there on FOF...Being on base I find it amusing haha, if only there was one, I'd feel alot cooler about being stationed back in Ohio haha

I do think, at some point, we will get an X-Base expansion. I do not, however, think they will connect Action Zone to X-Base. I guess perhaps they could, but I just don't see that being plausible for quite a while. Best bet would be the sheds, to the right of Firehawk, getting moved or destroyed to expand X-Base IMO.

KI was with Disney? When did this happen? :P

If they were to do something with X-Base I feel they would do it somewhat like this:

I know this is completely and utterly off-topic, but how do you pronounce "Ouimet"?

I've wondered this for years.

While I could see that being the set up, I feel the bottle neck you would create with the ride entrance/exit (ie right to the left after you go under The Racer) to be just as bad as the bottle neck going into AZ from Oktoberfest. Now, granted they could do some more work and make that path wider under The Racer, however having to remove more wood from The Racer may be something they do not want to do. In any case you came up with another idea of how X-base could be expanded.

You make it sound like simply because the emphasis isn't on theming, that KI will let Xbase turn into a Venture Bros. style Biosphere.

They keep adding little things, and sometimes big things, allover the park on a regular basis. I suspect to wake up one morning to an Xbase improvement scheme any day now, with little Martian bathrooms and everything. As it is, with the Hangar and the Dinos, it looks like a time machine gone whack.

Where did you meet him at?

S.O.B., who just had to

Many more places than I'll admit to here.

He, like Gatekeeper, is brilliant.

And he does not live in the Maple Grove parking lot, nor has he hired his son to manage a FUN park.
