The actual quote was by sections, not piece by piece. If you're going to quote someone, let's try and get it right.

We will make some parts of the ride available to purchase (track, wood from the structure, bolts). Each of the items will be limited in quantity. We will let everyone know when they become available

Park officials were on the last train.

^Thats good.. We could knock out two birds with one stone and take out Thunder Alley too.

Nothing wrong with Thunder Alley, it just needs a major expansion to make it more fun. Like I said a couple pages ago, they should take this opportunity now to make the track longer like the one at Cedar Point.

It will take a lot of money & a long time.

B)

Seriously, it depends on the contract signed with the firm taking it down. I venture to guess $1 million plus the firm can sell all the acquired materials. I also guess it will be gone by opening day 2013.

Thank you

I was expecting like the price of nice big coaster but I guess I was wrong so with that estimate we could still get something decent

I would say once they start no more than 2 months to take it down. It will be gone before the first snow flakes hit the ground this year.

the 2 month part I agree with, or something on the shorter side, however snowflakes have fallen in october in season's past, this year may be no acceptions, so Son of Beast may be like Freddie the Leaf and live just long enough to experience 1 more snow flake.

I wish I could get some of the nails they remove from Son of Beast - I'd like to make a sandwich!

I would like some wood to build a pergola over my patio. It could be my only SOB memorial. :) I am hoping that either KI or the contractor sells some to the public.

Has anyone read the rumor on Screamscape saying that a new coaster for 2014 saying something very large? Take it with a grain of salt.

I don't think the members here read Screamscape.

Like I said take it with a grain of salt but from what I have observed the couple times I have read Screamscape it has tended to put me in the right direction of a rumor.

And if it doesn't, in the future the past will be edited to comport with the present.

Good old Lance! Look at all the rumors about SoB on there. He did finally hit the spot but look at all the other bull that is posted about the ride. Besides, as far as I know, their are absolutely NO signs of a new ride.

Makes me wonder what Kings Island will get for 2013? Something small I'm sure because it would seem weird to announce to the public that they aren't doing anything special for next year.

It's been discussed before that actual rides will probably not be coming next year, they could but it doesn't seem likely.

2008...

^And 1978, 1980, 1983, and (kinda) 2010.

Six Flags Over Texas gets The NEW Texas Giant for 2011 and it becomes a huge success. Six Flags Fiesta Texas in planning on opening a renovated version of The Rattler called Iron Rattler in 2013. But Kings Island gets rid of the tallest, fastest, wooden roller coaster in the world? Seems like a roller coaster's life cut short to me.

Ask those who have been injured on SoB if they believe the coaster's life was cut short.

I am glad I was able to ride S.O.B but it is time to put it to rest.

I also guess it will be gone by opening day 2013.

Um, lets think logically here. If it is in fact going down the same way it went up (piece by piece,) would it not take at least 3/4 of the time it took to put it up? I bet we will see some structure left standing at the start of next season.

they already said its going to come down in sections, so I'm not trying to insert something that's not there. But for those that say demolition would be too complicated with AE and FD 15 feet next to it- go back to 2002 when Cinergy Field was blown up with brand new GABP next to it... with its closest point having the feature that a tall person could extend their arms and touch both structures. Demotion is literally an art.

They said it would come down in sections, which eliminates the above. BUT, it would be possible.

Would it be possible to get the same "art" result with a 200 ft wood structure? Not trying to sound like I am arguing, but honestly asking the question.

I would think if they could have done it in a matter of a few minutes, they would have.

They call it "Controlled Demolition" for a good reason.

Don't think it could be done very well on a stack of toothpicks however, lol.

No, and logically speaking, much less than half.

The precision necessary to remove a structure like SoB can only be compared to black and white to the precision necessary to construct a structure like SoB.

Thanks for posting that video, it make me do a wiki search on riverfront and i wasted an hour looking at it and various links from it lol

I worked construction for a long time so I have a little imput to add.. They will not disassemble it in the air they will prob remove large sections at a time with a Crane then lower them to the ground where a team of workers will dissasemble the sections..
