That's a BIG wheel!

The Ferris-style wheel, dubbed the High Roller, is expected to stand 550 feet tall. It is the centerpiece of a planned $550 million development, dubbed LINQ, expected to open next year between the company's Harrah's Las Vegas, Imperial Palace and Flamingo Las Vegas casinos.

The height would eclipse the nearly 443-foot London Eye, which opened in 1999, and the 541-foot Singapore Flyer, which opened in 2008. Both were the tallest observation wheels in the world when they opened.

When I saw Vegas, and strip wheel in the same topic title, this is not what I was expecting.

It was pretty much a useless disaster. They were going for a year round vacation destination thing kind of like Disney does, except well Vegas is Vegas...

They seem to have gotten back to just looking to attract adults now a days.

I think "Family-Friendly" is a concept that is nearly impossible in a city whose chief industry is based around capitalizing on addiction and vice.

Thats just one wheel company the other one will have for sure some coasters, Vegas goes in and out in the family cycle. Plus 2 water parks are started in Vegas.

This, has to be the stupidest thing Ive ever read. There are no less than 4 projects in Vegas that have been shuttered, and gone unfinished, since the crash in 2008. The only two ongoing projects that were finished as planned were City Center, and the Wynn Resort. Las Vegas has proven that it cannot support itself in this current Economy, and the Economy we can all expect to contend with for the forseeable future. To me, this is equally as foolish/ignorant/asanine as the "compensation" contest that kinzel and Gary Story had in the early 2000s. The casino business has "went to hell in a hand basket." Vegas has a lot of problems other than the tough economic times in my opinion. The proliferation of gambling around the US in the last 10 years has been nothing short of astounding. That takes a huge bite out of the Vegas economy. The cost to get to Vegas has increased as airfare rates have steadily climbed due to less competition and high fuel prices. High rollers or "Whales" of the international variety that used to come from Asia now simply go to their own new gambling mecca Macau.

Actually, the M Resort was a project that was finished during that time although it technically is in Henderson NV. A billion dollar project completed and opened in March of 2009. It was acquired by my employer Penn National Gaming in October 2010 for 231 million which was less than the cost of the land alone in the original project. Talk about a sale price. Brand new casino 75% off.

I laugh at in the article where it says about the other attraction someone else is building called skyvue and now ceasar is building one taller and there going to open in the same year. If I was the other person building i would be ****ed
