July 16, 201214 yr This is an odd question that came in my head today. We all know that Cedar Point is getting a new ride and they are taking out Disaster Transport to make room for it. My question is that if KI wants to build a new ride, will Flight of Fear be on the destruction list for a new ride besides SOB?
July 16, 201214 yr No way. Flight of Fear is a major ride in the park and I don't see it leaving for a long, long, time.
July 16, 201214 yr Author I just thought so bc it is similar to Disaster Transport and I got kinda worried
July 16, 201214 yr ...it's nothing at all like DT lol but I see what you mean they are both enclosed and "themed" but DT wasn't really a thrill ride to the likes of FOF
July 16, 201214 yr It's a bobsleigh coaster. I forget what it was called before it was enclosed. But it was a ride built in the 70s(?) 80s and later was enclosed and themed to what it is now.
July 16, 201214 yr What was it? never been to CP It was an outdoor bobsled coaster that only goes 40mph and is 63 feet tall and was enclosed. It's a family coaster, really. And to LongliveKingsCobra, it opened in 1985 as Avalanche Run and in 1990 was changed to Disaster Transport.
July 16, 201214 yr Author And it made sense that they are taking down Space Spiral bc that's basically what WindSeeker is except for ride time difference and it is in a constant fast spiral motion.

I don't mean to come off rude; but do you have any clue what you're saying? Space Spiral is an observation tower that slowly spins and moves up to give you views of the park.
July 16, 201214 yr And I believe to be much more reliable than WindSeeker, God forbid God blows in WindSeeker's general direction!

It doesn't spin as fast though. and it isn't as high.
July 16, 201214 yr Flight of Fear has seen better days do not get me wrong, but they added some new features here in the past couple of years and seeing as it is always backed out of the hangar area, I cannot see it going anywhere.

July 16, 201214 yr My photo of FOF today. I truly have grown to love this ride. Would LOVE, LOVE & LOVE the option if they would send riders into a complete blackout. Might be a Kings Island dream of mine, but hey....A guy can Dream On, Right? FOF 2012 by KingsIsland1972, on Flickr
July 16, 201214 yr Close your eyes. Voila. (In past years, Kings Dominion's operated in complete darkness. This year, it had three LED spotlights - fewer than Kings Island's, but much brighter.) Flight of Fear has nothing in common with Disaster Transport. To suggest that it might be removed since Disaster Transport is is like saying maybe Disneyland will get rid of Space Mountain for the same reason. Totally, totally, totally unrelated. It's still a starring attraction and a fantastic roller coaster that operates fairly well.

July 16, 201214 yr Some of us have had the lucky experience of riding FoF black out. Not missing much really, just close your eyes.
July 16, 201214 yr Who's that icecoldfirebird guy? A very liable person on the forums! I think our Flight of Fear will be around for many years to come.
July 16, 201214 yr Since we're on the topic of Flight of Fear, does the entrance still say Kinzels fort or something or was it changed to Ouimet?
July 16, 201214 yr You would surprised how close KI came to losing FoF. It was scheduled to be relocated under Paramount. The FoF at KD was actually shut down prior to CF's takeover.
July 16, 201214 yr I heard that Carowinds was going to get Kings Dominions Flight of Fear, I never heard anything about Kings Island losing theirs.
July 16, 201214 yr There was also official concept art for at least one of them becoming the MTV Soundwave using VIACOM's ownership of MTV to create a Rock 'n' Roller Coaster ripoff. The concept art for that ride is now used to advertise the Paramount Park in Spain (alongside new Italian Job coaster artwork).
July 16, 201214 yr OK, go ahead and say it will never happen, BUT- in 2005, prior to the CF purchase, if not mistaken FOF was scheduled to make one of the Paramount ride swaps. Wasn't Kings Dominion's FOF shut down in preparation for it? oops, Browntggrr- beat me to it. D'oh!
