July 1, 201214 yr We all know that the crypt is gone but I realized something. The other parks that still have crypts are all outdoor. Is it maybe that because potential riders can see what they are going to ride might increase their chance on wanting to ride it? Do you think if Kings Island might keep the ride and demolished the building?
July 1, 201214 yr The Kings Island version was not designed to be operated out-of-doors. It couldn't even handle the amount of water the ride originally featured. It was the only HUSS Giant TopSpin ever built. There are no others.
July 1, 201214 yr That last sentence is worded a little weird, but yeah it could make a difference. I'd say most people wouldn't ride though because at KD today nobody that I saw pass wanted to ride it.
July 1, 201214 yr Even if it COULD operate outside, the maneuvers that the KI version could handle would be seen as unspeakably boring if they could be seen before riding. Giant Ferris Wheel, indeed.
July 1, 201214 yr The ride has been demolished. The box now protects empty space. Browntggr beat me to the punch.
July 2, 201214 yr Do what the Enthusiast Dude does; watch POVs online and pretend you're riding the ride. I hear it can be pretty convincing.
July 5, 201214 yr The only "hope" I could see is another Crypt attraction outside (which is highly unlikely).
July 6, 201214 yr Ya know what I just realized? The OP said this: We all know that the crypt is gone but I realized something. The other parks that still have crypts are all outdoor. Is it maybe that because potential riders can see what they are going to ride might increase their chance on wanting to ride it? Do you think if Kings Island might keep the ride and demolished the building?
July 6, 201214 yr Kings Dominion's Crypt (the only other Crypt) usually has some of the shortest lines in the park, even with its incredibly attractive cycle. I've always dreamed of Kings Island getting a suspended top spin identical to Kings Dominion's (including the rock work, water pool, etc) placed inside of our building. The combined music / effects / cycle / size of theirs with the darkness, build-up, and theatrical lighting of ours would easily be the most detailed of its kind once again. But the chances of that are slim to none! As it is, I think the building will eventually come down... It would be a lot of work to fit anything into that pre-existing space, so even if an indoor ride were on the list, it seems like it would be easier to build a new structure altogether and maybe just re-use some of the existing features of the Crypt show building rather than work around the current dimensions.
