Silver Dollar City 2013 Coaster

Featured Replies

The ride looks absolutely crazy. Silver Dollar City is really putting themselves on the map with this one.

I hate when parks don't give us animated POVs.

Well, the way I look at it, it isn't finished.

  • I'm guessing if you asked the average person attending King's Island if Adventure Express was a wooden coaster or a steel coaster, you'd get 90% or higher tell you that its a wooden coaster. Few atte

I just found out about this coaster. Wow.

I think I would ride it, but I'm just iffy about a double barrel roll on a wood coaster. It looks to be stable, and it wouldn't be built had it not been safe, but you never know.

it wouldn't be built had it not been safe

SOB was built. Some would argue that it was not safe. It sent how many people to the hospital, again?

^Good point.

That's why I'm not sure if I would ride it. We all know about wooden roller coasters with inversions.

We do? What specifically about the inversion caused the problems?

Terpy, ever curious.

Indeed. I was just pointing out that sometimes things are built that are not safe. I never said anything about the loop being the problem.

"What specifically about the inversion caused the problems?"

A lawyer could argue that the loop is at fault here.

1. If not for the LOOP, perhaps a more reliable vendor could have designed and built KI's 2000 coaster

2. If not for the LOOP being 118 feet tall (and in the middle of the ride), the coaster could have been smaller, and therefore perhaps designed by a more reliable vendor

3. If not for the LOOP being 118 feet tall (and in the middle of the ride), the trains could have been lighter, and might not have beat up the track so badly

4. If not for the LOOP, the coaster could have possibly run standard, more comfortable trains

5. If not for the putting all of their eggs in the LOOP, the designers might have designed a more thrilling, well rounded coaster

So you see your honor, even though the LOOP was the smoothest, most trouble free part of the coaster, the LOOP is actually behind all of the problems.

-Buckeye Brad, who is not really being serious but showing how easy it is to invert the truth.

Much of that could also be said that were it not for Paramount's insistence that the coaster be the tallest, fastest and only looping wooden coaster on the planet the coaster would have been far more reliable, safe and comfortable.

In jest there is truth...,

We do? What specifically about the inversion caused the problems? Terpy, ever curious.

Notice I didn't say that the inversion caused the problem at all.

I simply said that we all know about a wooden roller coaster with an inversion, Son of Beast(used to, at least).

Virtual POV to be released in 2 days from now. Sneak peek below, courtesy of Silver Dollar City.

I have never been there, but is it really as woodsy as that video makes it out to be?

Yes, I just made up "woodsy."

Coaster looks awesome, but the ride seems so short, I don't see myself making any travel plans for it. But if I'm ever in the area, I'll be sure to stop.

I hate it when parks do that. They combine a POV and an offride into the same video.

Apart from that, it looks to be a fast moving coaster with good pacing (except for that awkward trick track around 0:35). I certainly won't be heading out there solely for Outlaw Run, but I may just to experience the park again.

Here's a construction update video showing off some of the areas and foliage in question.

I don't know why but I'm still marveling at that drop!!! Watch the video from 6:44 for a couple of minutes to hear some info about it!

The Outlaw Run POV is here!

Those are some interesting lift and braking mechanisms.

POV of testing released today! The headchoppers are amazing the first drop is stellar as well!

  • 1 month later...

The head choppers almost look to be cutting it too close!

And I thought going into the double helix after the second lift hill on The Beast was something..Does anyone suppose they would be able to touch the top of the opening?
