You're Much Safer Now

OK - They could do an "iron-whatever" treatment to SOB and then borrow that sign that says "remodeled, not as rough as last year" to put at the queue entrance.

And I have to wonder.....if that one ride were to be made in Paris, would it then be called a "French Tickler"?

Looking at the style of dress I assume we're much safer from heat exhaustion too!

Remember, there were no anti-perspirants and few wore deodorant before World War II. And smoking (and chewing) tobacco was far more common.

Great article! Thanks!

I wish.

Then again, had I been alive, I'd probably not been able to afford admission. And if my physical life were the same then, I'd probably have died at 28.

What is, is. Still, it's fun to think what might have been.

My favorite photo is of the "Loop the Loop" ride. The sign on the fence by the ride says "Beware of Pickpockets"

Nice article, thanks for sharing. Pics of the defunct Louisville parks are hard to find...except of course for KK.

So the mention that the architecture of one of those pictures was 'borrowed' from the Columbian Expidetion got me thinking of "the Devil and the White City" which lead me to go looking for pictures which turned up this picture of the 1st ferris wheel:

The book in and of itself is pretty interesting, but if you want to know a little history behind the ferris wheel and how the desier to top the Eiffel Tower unvieled at the previous World's Fair led to its development there are several good pages in that book.
