Diamondback Photo opportunities?

Featured Replies

Hello Everyone, just wanted to welcome myself. My name is Shawn as you can see in my screen name. Anyway on to my first post. I know that the Crypt is closed as of this year, but I was wondering if I can still go through the exit of the Crypt like past years to get a picture of Diamondback's first hill? I was able to do this back in 2010 when I last went, but now that the crypt is closed, I was curious If I can still enter in that area to get a picture.

They have that area blocked off, So I would think that you wouldn't be allowed to go back there.

Welcome to KIC! I dont think it would hurt. Id say you could do so but you may be asked to not do that if someone saw you....

Blocked off for a reason, I wouldn't push it! If they wanted people walking back there they wouldn't have blocked it off.

Thanks guys. I had a picture of Diamondback from the first hill a couple of years ago, but deleted it because I thought it was blurry. I wanted to redeem myself when I come down in a couple of weeks to take a new picture, but I guess I'll have to wait until they fill that building with something new.

I have seen plenty of people back there taking pics and such without incident. Most likely it is blocked off for those that do not know/realize the ride is gone. I can imagine people standing outside the entrance saying "How do we get in"? Much like those trying to get on SOB.

but I guess I'll have to wait until they fill that building with something new.

I would do that also to be on the safe side, hopefully the Haunt will be great addition!

Not that I'm endorsing you going into off-limits areas, but it's often easier to beg forgiveness than to ask permission.

But you didn't get that from me.

Considering they have removed the overhead netting of crypts exit, it's safe to assume they do not want the general public wandering on that path.

Or you could just ask an employee. I asked an employee if I could get my picture taken next to The Maestro prop from Phantom Theatre on The Bandstand a couple Haunts ago, and he lifted up the rope, let me go under, and even took the picture for me. Since your not causing any trouble a polite request is all you need. And if you get a no, then oh well.

Guests are not supposed to go into the entrance area of the former Crypt ride, so please keep out.

The answer's always 'no' if you don't ask, but I wouldn't hesitate with a camera in-hand. Seems the worst that might happen is they'll ask you to leave that area,

That is considered a restricted area. Keep out!

Thanks for clearing that up for us KIPR (I didn't see the previous post, sorry!) - none of us want to be in trouble! Glad we got that before anybody (hopefully) went down that path. :)

Alright, I will stay out, but hey Don, if maintenance people aren't enforcing this rule than people will still go back there.

So are you saying "Don" (who I can't imagine is in charge of maintenance or security) needs to post someone everywhere that's restricted or off limits?

Wow. Ignorant. I'm pretty sure a guy in a fanny pack with a Nikon (generalization, so sue me) isn't going to be someone hired from the park. Maintenance may not be there to "enforce" but they have or can get to walk-e-talkies (is that how spell it?) and can get the KI Police to come escort you out of the "restricted area".

I'm not trying to be mean, but it should be common sense if it's blocked off then you shouldn't go back there in the first place DUH!

Being in a restricted area can get you far worse than just escorted out of it. Should the park choose, you can be ejected for the day, season or for life and/or be charged with trespassing. You could also get hurt, as has been pointed out. Don't risk it.

If you wait until Halloween Haunt, the area might be open. Kings Island said something about using the area for whatever it is they have planned.

If an official photographer was there with the permission of Kings Island, they will have an escort to guide them.

NO KIDDING! Maintenance are busy with there own projects, there not standing there debating on if some guy can take pictures over there or not. This topic is ignorant, use your brains and follow directions.

Sorry buddy for creating a bad topic. I just wanted to ask if that area was open for photography like it used to be.

Jr for Birdy is being ignorant.

...This topic is ignorant...

It was a simple question, no need to flame.
