Disney's Tree of Life damaged

Featured Replies

Following recent thunderstorms around Disney's Animal Kingdom, a tree branch from the Tree of Life fell from the tree. The branch is said to have weighed about 5lbs and luckily when it fell there were no Guests or cast members in the area.

This has meant that some attractions in the Discovery Island area have been closed to allow park officials to check the Tree of Life and complete any maintenance.

We will let you know when we hear some more.

The Tree of Life was struck by lighting and a 5lbs piece of the tree fell off. Discovery Island and the Tree of Life is closed until Disney completes the maintenance and inspection of the tree.

It would be interesting to see how large the branch was. If it was one of the larger branches, it is amazing that it only weighed 5 pounds! I love the Tree of Life, I find it more impressive than Cinderella Castle. It's so detailed and beautiful.

I was expecting to read some what of a horrific story when I read the title to this thread. Needless to say, I'm disappointed in a good way. Glad no one was hurt.
