The Beast

Featured Replies

Has anyone else noticed a lot harsher stops coming into the station on The Beast? When I rode it today it seemed to stop a lot more than it usually does. I don't remember it doing that before, anyone know more? I can't imagine they'd do that on purpose, it's kinda painful.

yeah, i noticed that too. Maybe something is wrong with the breaking system idk. I rode it earlier around 7 and it was running great, But around 10:30 or so it was stopping more rapidly in the station causing the rails and things to rattle.

I've found it very fast, and yes, the braking was a little more rough than memory.

The Beast is rougher than it has ever been and yet some people on here are defending it at all costs and claiming it's "not rough".

^ It all depends on where you sit. Avoid the back row of any individual car, as those seats are directly over a wheel and therefore will be extremely rough. The middle row of a CAR (not the middle of the whole train) will be smoother. The front row is also fairly smooth. In fact, I would call 6-2 (middle row of back car) very rough, but I find the front row to barely be rough at all.

Yes I do agree that the middle of a car is fairly smooth.. that doesn't give excuse for the rest of the seats to be rough.

The ride is a fairly old wooden roller coaster. That's a good excuse for it being a little on the rough side in places.

Yes, it is old. My understanding is that they re-track it every year though. My biggest complaint is the roughness in the tunnels after the second lift hill.

Excuse me! 6-2 is the smoothest seat you will find on that ride! if you ask any crew member most of them would recommend sitting in 6-2. There first choice seating from some of the crew that i know is sitting in 6-2.

The Beast rough, nah......... But I have noticed that the train is coming into the station a tad quicker than usual.

I rode the ride yesterday at dark and it seems the whole ride goes without braking as much. But as you come to a stop in the station it is a very forceful brake.

Sometimes I think it's the time of day when you ride, I don't enjoy morning rides on The Beast.

I've also noticed that on The Racers too. One day they'll be really shaky, then another they'll be as smooth as a pebble driveway.

Look, The Beast is a classic wooden coaster, it's meant to be a little bouncy. It's not a pre-fabricated, smooth as butter ride, and some of us like that it isn't! I would never call The Beast painfully rough, and I ride in the very last row of the train, and it still isn't rough to me.

I'm the same way. I love the back seat, but then you have some people (not pointing anyone out) going on about how they got a little headache and had to leave the park. I mean it's a 32 year old woodie, it should be like kjkjkj said a little bouncy.

To paraphrase a famous saying, one person's rough is another person's smooth.
