1972 Holiday Inn article

Featured Replies

Here is another old article that I had sitting around. This is from a Holiday Inn magazine. It has a date of July/August 1972 on one of the pages.

(I "chopped it up" to make it is easier to read.)

Costumes certainly have come along way...I think if I saw this Yogi heading for me I would be like Grandpa Simpson..."KILL IT, KILL IT!"

What I wouldn't give to be able to go back in time for a day to experience the park as it was described in this article…I think it's safe to say that we will never see "Injun Country" ever revived at the park again! :)

I like that shot of The Racers. Thanks for sharing!

$6 and the price drops to $5....shows you how much time has changed. A $1 makes a big difference.

And no mention of any parking fee. All inclusive admission. No season passes. Park hours til 11 except Fridays and Saturdays, then midnight.

1600 acres, pre the Lindner land grab. Entertainment center.

It was a different time, it was a simpler time.

oh, let's face it, Yogi Bear in that picture looks downright scary. Even Timothy Treadwell wouldn't get around that bear. His eyes look hollow and haunted. Why don't they make an Old Mascot Maze as a Haunt? That would be chill inducing, going by the likes of this picture.

Standbyme, I wish you could've seen the park the way it was. I went during that time, and even went to Injun Country.

Six Flags now has exclusive theme park rights to TimeWarner owned characters, including HB and Scooby. This does not include merchandise for sale or as game redemptions. It does include commercial use as entertainment.

Good. The last thing I'd want as a kid is to have a mangy bear delicately poising his dirty yellow glove on me.

Now not only do SF patrons have to worry about rides named after DC superheroes, but they have this l'i'l gem to watch out for.
