Flying Turns POV

Featured Replies

I did a quick search, but I couldn't find a "Flying Turns" topic, so I decided to make one. Looks like this POV went up a few days ago, and looks really fun towards the end!

That's a prototype chasis on the Flying Turns... Don't see many wooden, bobsled-style-lookin-coasters out there besides that one, do ya? (Maybe that's why it's taken years to open...)

I found it quite boring - especially after all of the time it took to construct and all of the hype. Everyone pitches a bit** about Disaster Transport at Cedar Point and it is a lot better than this.

Edit ------ What the heck - are they payting homage to Adventure Express with that last lift hill?

No, I haven't ridden it - I guess I expected a lot more. I'm really still ticked that DT gets such a bad rap - as do most of the other bobsled coasters - and now this comes along and we're supposed to hail it like Jesus' Second Coming. (of course, they should have never covered DT - it was fun the original way)

Water does not affect trains quite the same way, yet note how often Cedar Fair has turned off mist effects (but see Timberwolf...where the mist feels more like airborne saliva. YUCK!)

If I didn't know the Interpreter's drinking habits, I might be on edge! As is, I'm instead seeking a hidden code... An extra space, no close-parentheses and three incorrect letters... Or so it seems!

I had never considered the effect of the sand on Disaster Transport. Very interesting! I think this ride looks lengthy enough and well-paced for what it's meant to be. And while I don't understand the issues that have lead to such a delay, it's exciting to see it working out. I think it's doing a very important thing that has little to do with the ride experience itself: It functions as a reminder that ingenuity and preservation are important in this industry as much as any other...

EDIT: Can anyone fill me in on what the second station (around the more minute mark) is for?

It appears to be the brake run and it MIGHT be the train house.

It looks like a lot more fun than I expected but its too bad (warning prediction ahead ->) no one will ever get to ride it.

Too much of a hurry, big fingers, little iPhone keyboard, 7 message boards, and no excuses. Edited, hopefully well.

This makes me giggle. Partly because I've been through it recently (the iphone bit) and partly because I knew you would quickly be posting with it.

I never cease to be amazed at how useful they are. I do love technology... especially as a musician.

My issue with DT is that the car is so long that it limits the side to side motion and that's what's fun about bobsleds. I've read that it was originally supposed to be smaller but Kinzel wanted it bigger to increase capacity.

I say tear it down and make use of the gorgeous beach. It has got to be CP's greatest missed opportunity and probably the biggest bang for the buck they've got available. Just imagine what that midway could look like with WindSeeker, the ferris wheel, WT and a good woodie where big ugly box.. I mean DT is.

Tear down my beloved DT? NOOOO!!!!

I know it's not much to look at from outside, but I love that ride! Not to mention that building also houses one of my favorite haunts, Happy Jack's Toy Factory.
